All the wines I've tried are effing dreadful, and the majority of the beers merely ok drinkable rather than offensive.

It's the alcohol that gives alcoholic drinks their distinctive taste. If I'm in a pub and don't want an alcoholic drink, which seems to happen a lot these days, it's usually green tea or fizzy water.

DFDS Newcastle to IJmuiden. Before covid i could get Two adults and a dog. Camperbus return for around the £400 mark. Did a quick quote tonight and for September i was quoted £1300 for the same trip. I i went alone on the bike it would be a tad over £500. Inflation has not been that bad FFS. If i do go ill be heading south for the Tunnel or Irish Ferries as the last time i look they were both around £300 for two and the bus. They both do Tesco Clubcard discount also.

New pair of Scarpa Moraine Gore-tex walking boots. Had them a week, been out the last couple of days and came home with soggy socks.

Ordered them from Apline Trek, so no idea what customer service I can expect, but I told them I want a refund.

B effin T, my erstwhile employer! It is back to the worst of the old BT in terms of customer service and general fuckwitterey!

Long story short. Had TV, broadband and phone from BT. For complicated reasons I told them I didnt want the TV box. While reviewing BT stuff I found I was paying for unlimited landline calls, but rarely using many. So please cancel that too.

Oh no, you are in an area where we can only do digital orders, we cant do anything to your phone/broadband unless you sign up for digital voice + broadband on a 24 month contract. A robust discussion saw them scrapping the 24 month bit (I am on a rolling month), but they more or less insisted on digital voice. We discussed what they needed to do, and I agreed.

Appointment made, Openreach man arives today. What he needs to do is something in the cabinet or exchange, and then plug in my phone into the router and test. No biggie. He arrives, in big rather muddy boots so I ask hiim to take them off or put some boot covers on. Reluctant 10 minute trip back to the van to find said covers. Back he comes and discovers that the shiny new digital phone that BT has sent me wont pair with the router, nor will my old phone plug into the router. Alegedly I have an old router and I have to phone up BT proper and get one. He checks the old set up is still working (and so do I) and off he bugget the routergers, telling me the line should continue to work as is and I should call up about the router.

Call BT proper (as opposed to Openreach) and get the new router ordered. Ask that they mark the line to stop some idiot disconnecting the old line until the router has come. Protracted discussion, he cant do that but eventually says that., from what I have told him, the order wont be closed until the man has come back to test the new router. So the line will continue to work for a week or two at least I remain unconvinced, but life is too short to argue with a plank so I let it drop.

Approximately 1/2 an hour after Openreach guy has left phone stops working!!!!!.

People who drive in the middle of the road because of a bit of snow (not even on a road with a mountain drop)

"Automatic" setting on car lights - the full beam takes too long to turn off and in snow or fog it stays on side lights only so there are no rear lights showing

People who look at the front of a bus and see where it's heading then ask the driver if it's going somewhere completely different and if not when is the correct bus arriving (whilst standing in front of the bus timetable)

Not exactly 'going dry but if I'm being sensible, mixing a 0% beer half and half with its grown up equivalent gives a good taste but makes me able to string a sentence together for the whole evening.

Not exactly 'going dry but if I'm being sensible, mixing a 0% beer half and half with its grown up equivalent gives a good taste but makes me able to string a sentence together for the whole evening.

I find 100% proper beer encourages me to string lots of sentences together as the evening progresses. It is just that other people don't seem to be able to understand them properly towards the end.

Dear effing god ! My piss is beyond boiling, it has changed to vapor and then plasma! After writing that ^ I noticed the upload took a while, then I edited a typo and that took a while to upload too, so I checked my broadband speed. Normally 60 Mb or so, this time it offered me 0.73 Mb !

Spoke again to BT whom assured me that it was my router, and did a factory reset that boosted the speed all the way to 15 Mb. After expressing my displeasure I was told it was definitely my problem, not the network which was running at 70 Mb. After further discussion about abysmal service in removing my analogue voice without providing any digital voice I eventually abandoned talking to yet another plank who seemed unable to actually do anything useful.

Amazingly, about 5 minutes after the phone call ended and I was stuck with no phone and 15 Mb 'broadband' the service magically returned to 60 Mb. Methinks he did manage to do something, probably by undoing an up-fuck that he didnt want to admit to.

Technology is beginning to piss me off big time!

Back in the good old days I used to have a wall in my comms room with four ISDN2e's. They had a green light on when they were working.

Every time it rained at least two of them would go off. I'd ring BT, they'd claim there was no problem, I would insist on a 'line test' and every time they'd come back on before the end of the call.

That's called 'blowing the fault away' with their test equipment. The BT guys eventually fessed up to it, as we knew them and saw them regularly down the local pub.
