Dave, you know how all your family died in that fire, then you were in that accident and lost an eye, then there was the bowel cancer, all of which stopped you from restoring your unrecognizable rusty shit heap of a Fiat Uno?

Well I'm not really your proctologist, I'm TVs Tim Shaw and here's your car, it was so bad that the only part we didn't replace was the ashtray.

that's called Car SOS and at times is cringey, at times is inspirational.
Ah, I don’t watch TV so that’s why I didn’t know about it.
Is Eddie Yates still in Coronation Street?

When I was a teenager 13/14 there was a soul boy who lived opposite our school - he had a BMW 3.0 csi but before that he had a Lotus Europa in metallic purple a beautiful thing.
I watched one of the car restoration progs last year and they were looking at one - it had major issues.
I wouldn't mind a MG midget but that's an itch best left unscratched - and i'm not that bothered about cars

I scratched that itch some years ago. With old cars, I've found that the old Chinese proverb, 'Wanting is better than having', certainly rings true.

Ferrari Dino was my dream car. I think the scoops in the sides did it for me.

I still can’t even afford it now it’s 50 years old

If you forced my hand I'd have a classic BRG one like this

My mum had a Herald (with a Vitesse front end after she pranged it)
OMG - how did I forget the AC Cobra!!

Bloody love the look of those. But there isn't a hope in hell I'd ever get one :(. There's a very slim hope I might get an MX5 or a Vitesse :) :) :)

A bloke I knew had a AC Cobra replica (Dax?). He kept it outside under a winter cover which despite pooling with water held up pretty well if he lifted the cover and drained it off regularly. Any hassle was worth it for the summer months...

None. Never had one as a car was A to B transport to me. I am of the age where i should have been gushing over XR2's, 3's and 4's. GTi, SRi's Ford or Merc Cosworth's but nothing. Only car in my youth i ever seen and thought "That is bloody nice" was a Mk1 Toyota Celica GT when i was a child in the 70's. It was a darkish Blue and a side mounted chrome exhaust. Probably a dummy bit it looked cool to an 11/12 year old me.

Bought a car off the Hartleys a couple of years ago.
Nice guys actually.

He reckons he sold 70 cars this January just gone, that’s some serious supercar sales, all above £200k apart from one or two.

No capital gains on cars so investment purchases are on the rise.

How about dream cars of your current age?

I've just seen this and I want it so hard it hurts. Have you ever seen a car more beautiful?

No mention of the Lancia Stratos? Lovely looking thing, very purposeful.

There's dream, and there's just out of reach. In the former category, it was a car that's still made - the Porsche 911 turbo. In the latter, the Astra GTe 16v when I had the SRi, and the Dolomite Sprint when Dad had a Dolomite 1850.

That ^^ was almost my first car back in 1986. Insurance was going to hurt my arse to ended up with a Datsun 120Y F11.
