I don't get the poll? What is happening has always been the case and obviously suits you, you won't change anything.
It's a left-wing echo chamber and through biased moderation it's now stinking like a very old corpse.

You've got people cheering for the death of politicians, members wishing other forum members dead, accusations of being a Nazi happy to put Jews on trains to concentration camps. I have to applaud Taipan for pointing out the really outrageously stupid stuff, like the incredible (and lifetime ban-worthy) comment about Nazis/Jews that was allowed to fly, it's staggering that not a single moderator called it out.
But then that's fairly tame when you're actually posting that you wish another forum member dead!
How toxic does it need to get?

Most forums these days are quite PC and the above stuff would get you banned even from places like Pistonheads.

Outside of this little goldfish bowl (and you'll say I'm making it up) I told a group of airline pilots at a trackday about this forum and they laughed at me when I saw them the weekend after, words like "it's like labourers on a building site" and "political morons" were used.
Those were real people from the outside world, professional people, not taxi drivers or aged bigots posting and calling for the death of political leaders.

Next year the same thread will go up, hopefully no one is bullied and helped into suicide or chased in their real lives in the meantime.
FWIW it doesn't need closing, these are grown adults, it just needs moderating by someone who isn't very biased.

What you could have said was airline pilots looking down their noses at people they, and you, regard as being beneath them.

I could but it wouldn't have been true.
Yes they looked down their noses at it without doubt, but because of the shocking behaviour they saw, not because airline pilots are naturally above anyone, even at 40,000ft.

It's like watching clips of drunken idiots outside a pub fighting with bouncers, most people would look down on them because of what they're doing, they might be Chartered Accountants, but that's got nothing to do with it.

OK that’s what the pilots thought.

Iccy is of course right, that it’s a comical travesty of a political debate.

It’s not even that the opinions are “wrong; that wouldn’t be a problem.

It’s the endless stamina to repeatedly throw these opinions at people who will never have any respect for them. These guys can carry on trying to score imaginary internet points every day, for years.

The ISS crew might have a word or two to say about that😂

I don't know what astronauts get paid but pilots get paid a lot less than I thought they would, a First Officers take-home pay is less than an average electrician would earn at our place and even a Captain with a decade of experience wouldn't get close to a Directors pay.
It was a surprise when they were telling me, it's a job you need to love rather than doing it to get rich.

It's even worse if you're a domestic route pilot in the US, I watched a documentary a few years ago and the pay was shocking considering the responsibility they have.

I haven't read all the 4 pages of comments, but voted for it to stay. Not that I post here regularly but I mope about the place most days.
In the politics section its a place that I have changed my opinions and views, because of the posts on there. I see that a good thing.

And that is why most forums are boring as shite.

We are all adults, allegedly robust rufty tufty bikers. We all have access to the OFF switch. Very limited moderation is needed and the current amount is arguably verging on too much. I really dont care much if someone tells me I am a plank/whatever, unless it is someone I know IRL. There are some on here (who I have met casually but years ago) who I will take notice of, there are some I really mind at all if they think I am mad/misguided or whatever. The feeling is probably mutual.

We've got a forum we use and I told them about this place, but you've seen my comments on what they thought.

No worries 😌

I don’t much care what people think, I’m not building a legacy here.

The day someone tells me they want to run this place instead, it’s all theirs.

Boring as shite?

In the politics section here you can freely post that you'd like to see a politician murdered and no one will moderate it. You can even express hope that a forum member will be killed as long as it's someone that the main pack has turned upon and doesn't like.

These things aren't seen as extreme, moderation is only applied in one direction and it's been going on for so long only one or two see it as a problem and occasionally comment but get shouted down. The Nazi/Jew comment was a perfect example, it's so toxic in there that it was one of the lesser terrible things said, only Taipan raised it and was told he was overreacting, which he probably is now it's gone so far and seen as normal.

Fair enough if that's the decision on how it will be run, but at the very least I'd suggest a warning pop-up before you enter that you may see threats or threatening language up to and including the death of any non-left-wing MPs and forum members, that won't be moderated.

Let’s just go back a step here.

Moderators are doing this for free and unless people report the threads they are potentially not even looked at.

Very few reports come out way. So not everything gets looked at.

I still don’t actually know what post you keep referring to

This is a well trodden path, we've been down it many times, if you can't see it then you can't see it.

I don't even know why I replied to be honest, all I've done now is put my head up and it won't be long before the shots start coming in again, or one of the weirdos googles the username and starts poking into my personal life again....3,2,1....
