Closed threads in politics
Well
Irie, Mike and ZX are being irritating lately so the threads are closed for the weekend to give people a bit of respite from the arguments
I won’t be about much but the Mods have been informed that if they ban any of the 3 of you I won’t even bother asking why.
Enjoy the peace

Hmm.
Yes several posters have insulted others, but TBH if some posters were to call me a cuddly wuddly beery beary boo I would wear it as a badge of honour. No reason to start locking threads.
I know you don't like politics threads but Trump is a major player and has the capacity to ruin all our lives, so discussion of his antics is valid.

Mike is Screwd reincarnated, like some Stephen King character that met an unpleasant end but has found a way to come back and haunt us all.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: Fri Jan 23, 2026 7:44 pm I didn't know Irie still posted, no idea who Mike is and ZX can be a bit strange

TBH I wasn't aware he was posting again as I never venture into the politics sub forum, I'm here to talk about motorcycles and take the piss out of Taipan.Yorick wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 5:04 pmThat's being very politeLe_Fromage_Grande wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 5:02 pmhe's been a lot strange recentlymangocrazy wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 4:20 pm

I'd never do that. Honestly. No sirree. Not me
Re: Closed threads in politics
I Used to like reading Screwdrivers posts back when he was talking about things he was doing, he struck me as the type of guy that could do anything if he put his mind to it but sadly he went off the rails a bit, no doubt partly to blame from the baiting he got from some users on this forum.
Bit of useless trivia: years ago I think the was back in the VD days my mate had a dt125 sitting in a garage and couldn't do anyting with it,
I put a post up about it and Screwdriver contacted me and I put him in contact with my mate and he went over and bought it.
He put a post up about fixing it up which was a nice read and it sold it and made a tidy profit from what I remember.

Re: Closed threads in politics
Has the boss over reacted?
I can live with closing for a bit, locking the Trump thread and encouraging people to play nicely, but banning ALL politics and current affairs is IMO a tad OTT.
It will make for a very quiet life.

If everyone leaves, then maybe.
However I was between a pile of rocks and a deep ocean. One way was crap, the other way was crap
However by closing the politics discussion at least I keep my sanity and the nicer people can go back to being and feeling welcomed again here.
All I’ve done is remove the main source of arguments
If as a side effect I’ve also removed people’s desire to come here, that’s on me.
As I’ve said before, if anyone thinks they can do it better and want to own and run the forum, I’ll hand it over whenever they want it and remove myself from all access outside of a generic poster. Just say the word

I'll give that sone thought. If I felt it could run without getting all crazy, I'd love to see itDavid wrote: Mon Feb 02, 2026 6:09 pm I am missing the current news thread, but I can see why you binned the politics shite.
