January 24th 1901: The birth in Southwark of Edward Turner, English motorcycle designer. In the late 1920s, Turner conceived a unique, compact 500cc four-cylinder engine designed as two geared parallel twins in a common crankcase. After the engine design was rejected by BSA, so he took his idea and drawings to Ariel Motors, and thus it became the legendary 'Ariel Square Four'. When Ariel was bought up by Triumph Motors in 1932, Turner went on to design the famous Thunderbird, Terrier, Tiger and Bonneville bikes as well as many others.

Not sure where to post this so here ya go

Utterly random but actually, on finding this on a bus yesterday I was actually a bit confused, a smidge worried and a tad freaked out!!

All sorts of wrong - then I remembered where I was !!! :lol: :lol: :lol:
