Such a shame you can't even smell the fresh baked smell of it thats wafting through our house. Combine that with the rasp of the bread knife as it as its cracks the crispy crust and you'll not see the soft Irish butter melting into the hot, cheesy loaf either. Still, mustn't grumble...

How the fuck have I added veterinary epidemiologist to my list of skills? As for bizarre comments about BF & state lines etc I have no idea why flocks were slaughtered in States without BF, I know the farmers weren't too happy about it.
I didn't pay too much attention to the entire deal. I was amazed at people bitching about paying twice as much at Walmart than Costco, when there were eggs on the shelves, there often weren't because of "the shortage" when I could walk into Costco & buy 6 dozen without any issue.
One thing I have noticed is that Walmart eggs have shells like tissue paper & the ones from Costco are like armor plate. Costco yolks are much darker too.

Type of egg is normally down to the feed. I liked Rhymer eggs which are local-ish. They had a nice consistency and a dark, almost orange yolk. Then I found out that is down to some sort of marigold extract in the feed! :wtf: I buy organic now.

Costco eggs are labeled organic.. but that label doesn't mean shit when it comes to them being a healthy option. Sometimes it's the opposite.

I’ve gone against my usual better judgement of keeping the day job to between M-F 9-5 and dome a few hours work today, as I have a bit of a backlog of cases and I woke up at 4am thinking about one of them. I’ve managed to push three cases onto the next stage leaving a much lighter case load for the next few days.

I’ve also been braising some beef short ribs in Guinness Dublin Porter (home-brewed in a Pinter) which I’m going to have with homemade colcannon and carrots for dinner. I may have to wash it down with some of the beer :D

Probably different here to there. Here Organic chickens must have unlimited access to outside during daylight hours and are fed non-GM feed with no anti-biotics (unless medication opurposes) and kept in flocks of 3000 maximum. Free range are kept in flocks of up to 16000, fed GM feed and have limited access to smaller outdoor spaces.

This made me laugh (not the master baker comment :angelic-green: )

My brother and I sometimes chat about bread as we both make it. We also talk about heating and costs etc, so he knows that I object to heating my place much just for an hour or two in the evening, so I tend to sit under a blanket if it's extra chilly!!

Worse is my Dad cos he just has the bare minimum of heating to stop anything freezing and and does his work outs morning and evening (and uses a blanket to sit under !!

Anyway - we were chatting the other day about breads and recipes and he said he'd just made a loaf, his comment was -

" Everytime I make bread I think of you and Dad and wonder how long bread would take to prove in your places - I reckon four hours in yours and four days in Dad's "

He's not far off - usually about 3 hours the last couple of months cos it's been Very cold !!

Luckily Dad doesn't make bread (basically eats keto, so bread is off limits!!) so we have no idea if it would really take 4 days or not!! :banana-wrench: :banana-wrench: :banana-wrench:

Modified the hooks on a cargo net so I can attach it to the GPz11.. which will hold my small magnetic tank bag in place on the rear of the seat.. which is where I also carry it on the ZX11 after discovering the magnets are overcome by aero causing the bag to lift off the tank at Warp Factor Stupid... which also lifts passengers off the seat when making really rapid progress.

There's a bread story in one of my bread books (probably 'The Handmade Loaf' by Dan Lepard) about somewhere in eastern Europe iirc where they chuck the dough in the outside water butt - when it floats it's ready to bake. That can take a while if they have to break through ice first!

It does show just how far you have to go to stop the yeast completely though.

Replaced some dodgy white plastic sockets with some metal clad ones and fitted a new fused spur for a security light.

I think I should ask for one of those bubble sticks for my birthday.

Watching the weekend engineering work go badly south.
"Of all the stories you told me, which ones were true and which ones weren't?"
"My dear Doctor, they're all true."
"Even the lies?"
"Especially the lies."

Most of my friends that use yeast for bakes here prove overnight in the fridge - but I'd get distracted the following morning and forget until far too late to be able to bake it

Today I scratched the damn bus :( :( :( :(

FFS, pulled into the parking at GVA but slightly too tight at the back end and made a bit of a mess of the luggage door nearest the rear wheel :( :( :(

Work doesn't shout tho, so that was a bonus - told the boss when I got back to the depot, no point calling as the luggage door worked even though I decided not to use that side.

Then realised they had bigger problems - as I was heading to the office to drop off some stuff, a recovery truck drove in pulling a coach (not from our depot, but still our company). I'd heard that there'd been an accident on the way up to one of the resorts but to actually see the bus :o :o :o

Pic of the car -

Image

back of the bus (shows the gouge in the road where he was still braking I guess and the impact had killed the tyre) - will get a pic of the front of the bus tomorrow -

Image

Remember kids - don't drive like a twat, don't cut the white line; and generally, unless you push it off the mountain road by force, the bus is gonna win

Bus driver ok (but hellish shocked), car driver injured but I don't know how bad, but looking at the car

EDIT : I'd assumed it was a case of car going too fast and crossing the white line (as is the habit of french drivers) but this photo looks like it was a straight line :o. Both the boss and the driver that originally mentioned the accident said it was the car going very fast and crossing the line (still not sure how on a straight bit, but TBF, I've had to slow for someone very close to the white line, so . . . . . )

EDIT EDIT : from FB, it looks like the road was closed for over 2 hours, so yes, possibly due to needing the tow truck to rescue the coach, someone to get passengers off and onto something else, but possibly also due to needing to get scene info if the car driver is not in a good way :( :( :(

Went over to my sister's for the afternoon. She has the sister dog of my dog, and they always turn a meet-up into a French Bulldog MMA fight! :D Surprisingly calm night as we walked along the estuary...
