Simple button on the mighty DusterNoggin wrote: Fri Jan 09, 2026 4:37 pmI have to go into the screen and settings and then find traction control to turn it off. Might be possible in yours that way? When I restart I would have to do that again as it doesn't lock.Mussels wrote: Fri Jan 09, 2026 3:46 pm I'd love to turn off the TC in snow but the car is designed to always have it on, the back end breaks free on even slightly damp roads.
It has a snow mode so I just hope the designers did more than add a placebo to sell more cars.
Bloody stupid that manufacturers don't still just have a button to make it simple!!!

But, too many manufacturers don't do that

Re: Snow
We had an old Jeep Grand Cherokee and that was brilliant in the snow, diff lock, low ratio and no electronic aids. It worked really well.

Re: Snow
We got 6 inches overnight (phnarr).
Power cut at 11pm, back on for us by midnight, but our neighbours down the road lost power at the same time, and still have no power (along with another 72 properties apparently) - they've been told it might be back on at 8pm
It's his 80th on Sunday and they were supposed to be going to London by train for the weekend including seeing a couple of shows - they've had to reschedule for next weekend, as the roads were impassable first thing, and the trains have been a smidge upset too
We have a very big (needs trimming tbf) tree in front of the house which lost a section that made up about a third of it, blocking our exit. Handily we didn't need to go anywhere.
Him indoors took the quad around 'our' woods and cleared around 35 small trees that had come down across the paths.
It's been thawing all day, but there's still plenty out there, and it's supposed to drop to -4 tonight, so I imagine we'll have plenty of snow and ice to play in this weekend

Re: Snow
Had a bit of a worry today as did my first transfer in snow - well, worried that there would be a lot of snow on the ground for the return cos it was snowing when I left the depot, but didn't have to go up to resort to do the pick up as there isn't enough working time to pick up and drop off with the added airport wait!!
Anyway - the town road was interesting but once on the main road it was ok - although snowing pretty much all the way to Lyon
On the way back I worried that if the Police were demanding that all vehicles used chains, regardless of tyres, cos I can't put the chains on on my own!!! Anyway - arrived at Bourg station to drop of some passengers and some colleagues confirmed that it was only chains if you didn't have winter tyres
I'd already organised the passengers to sit on the seats between the axles so all the weight was in the middle
Luggage always in the middle

And luckily, there wasn't 'much' snow - so all was well

Tomorrow may be different depending on how much snow we get
Worst bit - having to de snow the car to go to work!! I did put a cover over the screen, but still, lots of wet snow to move and when I came home, the snowplough clearing the road during the day leaves a lot of the snow piled up. To had to dig out space to be able to reverse in to park tonight
