After last nights 30mm rain went out on the Curtis. Veritable slop fest and whilst the Forecaster V2 on the rear is a lot better than the Minion SS that was on before it was a bit "mudwhelmed" in places.

Im not sure there’s a right tyre for trails at times. It’s just hope for the best and see if you stay upright

Re: 2025 Bikes, rides and pictures.
Work have this MyActive Hub thing where there are monthly competitions for running, walking, cycling etc and this month is a cycle 800 miles competition (team of 4), well we didn't get off to a good start and a bunch of northern railway staff have been zwifting their way into the lead and got too 800 miles first, we were a distant second until my colleague went all Gunnery Sargeant Hartmann (I think finding out they'd been doing it on Zwift put him over the edge
) and we have to hit the 800 by Sunday. So today entailed a full ride to a from work and it has pissed it down on me twice! I'm currently on the sofa thawing out. 83 miles to go and I've been told I'm cycling to work tomorrow (passive aggressive WhatsApp

)..........

Zwifting isn't really fair either though in truth.

Night riding in the forest, you can't see the top of the hill so you just keep on plugging away until it gets easier.
I like that the camera makes the lights look much brighter than they actually are. They were turned down to a lowish setting.

On the manual road bike and MTB. Haven't EMTB'ed for a while due to technical and other issues.weeksy wrote: Thu Nov 27, 2025 3:21 pm

Re: 2025 Bikes, rides and pictures.
Got myself a £30 bike last week for titting about on. Today was first ride and what a great ride it was.
Started going through haughmond Hill then picking up cycle track into Shrewsbury alongside the river Severn. Into the quarry for a coffee and photos of various poi.
The invention of 2 wheel transport is probably my favourite, after cable ties.

English bridge and Wakeman school.

Hercules

Suspended footbridge and the Boathouse pub, nice garden for summer.

Nice coffee shop

St Chad's

WW1 memorial statue

The Dingle gardens in the quarry.

Bandstand

Suspension bridge and pub.

Rowing club

and a bloody soaking on the way back.

Well it got me there and back with zero issues. Chucked it in the back of the Jazz and got home for a cornbeef and mustard sandwich. That'll do nicely.

Not sure where to put this so I'll leave it here, skip the first 4 mins, I'd love to do something like this.

Re: 2025 Bikes, rides and pictures.
Road bike commute this morning and going up Ranscombe Hill clouted something metallic on the bike path, I suspect it was a temporary road sign frame but couldn’t tell as it was lost in the glare of on coming headlights. Poxy thing buggered the rear mech and I was stuck in the smallest two cogs on the cassette. Single speeded the rest of the way to the station and had a better look at the mech under the lights and gave it a bit of a wiggle and it popped back into a better position (it’d sort of hunched itself up) and started working again(phew). I’m going to guess it’s some sort of protection mechanism but I’ll message my LBS mate later to see if that’s true.
