'83 GPz1100-A1 Stuff.

Post by ZRX61 »

It hasn't happened yet, but I have room for it & the $$$. Now all I need to do is figure out how to get it here from Huntington Beach...or how to get to HB so I can ride it back.

Still got the stock pipes, I guess thats due to the climate, looks like an aftermarket comfort seat tho?

How many miles?

Do they still have greyhound busses over there :)

Don't think Greasy Greyhound would help it's only on the other side of LA. :D

Apparently it runs like it did the day it left the dealership. Everything works.

That sure does look pretty - mate still has one languishing in his garage, thinking that pic might get him motivated but I doubt it 😕

That California weather sure does help bikes age! It's damper than a penguins flip flops here at the moment, despite it being a clear/dry day.

Those are about the only things that go wrong with them so all should be good.

Wiring can wear where it goes through the headstock, but that's the case for any old bike

Ya need to start a thread in the 'owners/projects' section, otherwise this one will drop off the page pretty fast.

The igniter box on mine died, Kawasaki wanted £600 odd for a new one (no used ones about) so I replaced the whole ignition with a Dyna 2000 setup

Mine has Mikuni RS34s, I think I'd rather have fuel injection as it hardly gets ridden and modern fuel gums up the pilot jets, I drain the carbs every time after it's run but it still has problems.

Would a modern EFI setup work better, make more BHP?

Stick a set of GSXR1000 throttle bodies on it and a Megasquirt ECU.

Probably, people have used the mega squirt and the original throttle bodies with good results. TBH I can't really be arsed to spend much on it as I like owning it more than riding it
