Sell the bike or car to watch FIFA World Cup in NY

Post by the_priest »

Tickets are more than £3000 for the lowest priced tickets. No concessions and they are also setting the prices according to the popularity of the teams, so Brazil will be very expensive, Scotland will be cheap and England will be middling cost, but starting at around £300 for a cheap ticket.

I am not interested in football, but this is absolutely ludicrous and totally beyond the means of people with normal incomes. FIFA must have their heads up very expensive bottoms and are totally out of touch with the world.

One who forgives an affront fosters friendship, but one who dwells on disputes will alienate a friend.

But people will pay it. Or corporations will.

But the stadiums will be fairly full

Was reading that earlier. Bloody shame that ordinary proper fans can't go.

Hope it backfires and folk boycott it.

Weeksy's right people will pay it.

I was shocked to find that one of my colleagues happily pays £600 for a weekend ticket for the Silverstone F1!

That's just bonkers, imho.

I pay about £2500 for my Portimao and Jerez trackdays.

They are getting desperate, football is in decline and they can't stop it.
Womens football made numbers look better for a while but attendance is already dropping, it won't be long before virtue signallers move on to something else.

It seems to be a common trend with NFL and baseball suffering the same in the States, people have more alternatives and aren't willing to pay the ever increasing costs to watch mainstream sport.

Without sounding flash, if England got to final and someone offered me a package of flight, hotel and nice seat, I'd pay the 3 grand.

We're quite frugal, but have money for luxuries.

Footie fans make me chuckle. Forever moaning about the cost of season tickets, the pay-per-view prices, how much a pie costs, how the players are on £100k a week, etc.

'No longer a working man's game!' they cry.

And then pay it anyway. Oh, and the two replica kits for the kids at £150 a throw.

And the merry-go-round keeps turning.

Ad infinitum.

I wouldn't dream of putting money in FIFAs already well-stuffed pockets. They're as bent as a 4 bob bit.

Stadiums will be full of locals aswel as travelling fans I'm sure. I'd much prefer things if they kept the WCFs in countries that play the game at a top level.

£300 a ticket does sound a lot. Until you realise how much it costs to bribe Fifa into letting your country host the competition!

On top of the ticket prices, you'll also have to undergo a thorough check of your social media history for the last 5 years and hand over all phone numbers and email addresses used in the last 10 years, presumably to check for any negative mention of Dear Leader.

I have no interest in giving my money to a dictatorship. Apart from North Korea, cos that actually looks quite cool to visit :)

I did a tour of the Emirates Stadium, hosted by Charlie George no less. One thing that becomes very apparent, very quickly, is just how corporate the beautiful game is. The stadium is a 24/7 business and seemed a long way detached from a father and son on the terraces on a Saturday afternoon. Incidentally, Charlie told us that he earns far more from doing tours at the stadium than he ever did playing there!

Unfortunately they are never consistent. They had a good run the first half of the Euros then back to being shit. America will end up a nice wee Holiday for them but i am thinking it wont be a long trip. Steve Clarke will retire after the World Cup and whoever steps in will change it all around with new ideas and we will be back to good old mince.
