Does a scrap car have any value these days?
Does anyone know if they're worth anything for scrap these days? I remember a while back suddenly they worth a few hundred quid, then not that long after that, worth nothing. IIRC anyway!

Mostly depends on the age of the vehicle, and the engine size because the catalytic converters hold the significant value now. Car itself is worth up to £100 and the cats £150-300

When our old Auris lay down the scrap dude gave me £250 to take it away. That was last year. I'd just put 4 new tyres on it too.

The scrappy will tell you how much it's worth and give you a cheque when they collect it

My old civic was rotten beyond repair. Put it on gumtree for 300, bloke picked it up with a low loader for 200. Spares probably.

I got £230 for a 54 plate Mazda3 in July/August.
It was totalled by a phone distracted driver who crashed into it while it was parked outside my house.
The company that took it came and took it away on a flatbed truck and deposited the money in my bank, all within a couple of hours of first contact.

Few years back the wifes ex phoned to ask if we can meet him at the scrap yard to take him back home as his Fiesta was done. Not an issue but at the time scrap was not worth shit and he only got £50 
Kind of reminds me of the early 80's. A garage in Sighthill Edinburgh was selling new Lada Rivas. The advertising logo was along the lines of "if it has four wheels and an MOT you drive it in we will give XXXX amount as a trade in". They were getting lots of shitters but then, i am not sure the new equivalent was much better.
