Makes just buying stuff a pain, sifting through all the old stock they're trying to shift + yesterday, all the 'bargain' hunters seemed to bring the banking/payment systems to their knees.

Trying to buy some computing kit - all the Amazon stuff from the manufacturer I want seems to be old models and lower spec than current models. Found what I was happy with on John Lewis - payment system says 'no'. Bank says, 'problem not with us or you sir'. Tried to buy something else, completely unrelated, on Amazon. 'Can't connect to Amex'. Problem not at Amex end.

it. Going direct to Hewlett Packard today and upping the specs /cost . Will pay by cheque or postal order if necessary.

Two of our best pals arrived Sunday with kids and partners and 4 grand kids staying a lovely villa

This morning they got a call they were dreading about their elderly dog.

I've just dropped them at the airport and the vet is gonna do the deed at their house this evening

He said he might fly back here Thursday

I've offered them a free week here anytime in December to help them with the pain.

In addition to my PS3 deciding my old log-in/account needed updating (now in a box pending recycling - see things 'that make you happy' thread) - I went to use Internet radio on my streamer. Ah, the manufacturers have done another deal with a different radio distributor. It, and my other streamer/box of tricks need firmware updates. The new versions all do updates wirelessly. Of course, mine, being more than a couple of years old, you have to download the update to PC (or Mac) copy to a memory stick, (or connect directly iirc).

Don't think I can be arsed. FM radio still works and I can play it to either the hifi and/or wirelessly to the other device which has a built in speaker.

Bloody technology.

3, I went a fished out a spare keyboard

Answer is 4, all of the above have been utilised today

If you 'favourite' your key contacts, you can set your 'do not disturb' setting to allow favourites through, and nobody else. Mine's been set like that for about a decade

Would you believe it, i've just had another email to tell me the parcel has been delivered to the mailbox

Mailbox was empty
Parcel left on the floor near the mailbox
Parcel easily fits in the mailbox

To me this suggests that posty left the last parcel on the floor and someone nicked it !

I'm confused, do you have it or not?

I've had parcels 'delivered' only to find nothing there. When I complain I'm told to check with my neighbours (which I didn't do). And the next day the parcel is delivered. Clearly the postie decided to knock off early but didn't want the bosses to know, so marked it as delivered.

First package- 17th Nov, they said delivered to my (or someone elses) postbox, But I never got it
second package- Delivered yesterday, once again the email said it had been put in the postbox. It hadn't it was left on the floor next to the post box. So i did get that one.
After filling out a second online complaint form I was pliantly surprised to have a call from the local post office, who took on board everything I said about it not being put in the post box. She then told me that there is a new person on my round as the regular guy is on holiday. They will speak to the new guy/ girl and in the meantime have emailed me the 'paperwork' to send to my seller so I get a refund and he claims off them !

So have I, but that doesn't help when the NHS need to get in touch for my oldies, or one of the night carers for my MiL, or whoever else gets hold of my number as I hold the PoA for my lot, hence not wanting to use DND.

And I shouldn't have to, a company should not be calling, texting or messaging anyone outside of regular business hours, it's a common courtesy, either way if they've not addressed my compliant be close of play Wednesday I shall cancel the order and buy a washing machine elsewhere

Sweating the assets innit. Computer busy doing stuff during the day, but bog all at night. Program it to send out all the routine non-urgent stuff while it is lying idle. Common sense, only oldies* will be upset.
