WTF, clicking on the round thing takes you to the first unread post?

When viewing 'new posts' i've always gone to the thread and scrolled to last one i've not read...

But clicking the round icon actually takes you to your last unread post !!!!

Ah. I think it does the same if you click on the date of the last post ie below the link. That's what I've been doing.

If I do New Posts the list of threads appears. Just now this thread was top and it says 'Last Post by weeksy' and <<the date and time of the post>> Clicked on that bit, it brought me here to reply.

Nah, don't have that.. I'm guessing different browsers/configs etc... but nope.

I have a little arrow thing that takes me to 'last post in thread'

but the left hand round thing does 'last read post' so even if 2 pages after i've opened a thread it's the last one i looked at.

Different forum skins use different Icons.

I'm on SE Gamer Style and the "unread posts" icon for each thread is a blocky shape :

In addition the little red "file" or "sheet" icon does the same thing.

Only when it's red. That means 'new post(s) since you last viewed the thread'

I get a different layout on my tablet from my phone - using the same skin.

I guess I missed the difference between 'last post' and 'first unread post'. Sometimes I'd go to the last post and have to scroll up to find what the last post was responding to.

I've been using the little red page icon for ages. It does the same thing. I didn't realise the round thing did it too though.

edit...I've always used the little icon after the last poster's u/n on the far right.
