My bike fell over and just clipped the front of my 'nice car'. (yeah - schoolboy error)

I looked at both of them and went "yeah it's not that bad". I've got some touch up paint - whether I ever do it is something else.

Insignificant but somewhat piss boiling....

When you're 'just' about to start fitting up the other half's festive lights, everything ready, and she picks up the 'one' dodgy bulb and breaks the sodding thing. Naturally, these are the old style 'series' lights so if one bulb is gone, the whole lot is dead, and there's not a whelk's chance in a supernova of finding another because the set is a good few years old. GAH! :(

The 'christmas bunting' I ordered 3 weeks ago is stuck in the post somewhere. No tracking either so who knows where the merry feck it is. Why is it that UK post is totally screwed? At the moment stuff I've ordered 'free postage' on ebay from flipping china is arriving more quickly.

Yeah I know - christmas bunting. I like bunting.

Post to my mate in France is typically well over a week, often two, for a letter and several weeks for parcel. Even a tracked parcel just got lost into the void.

Few years ago a mate had a similar problem. The phone call to chips Away resulted in it being sorted out to a very high standard, and groveling apologies.
So I call Chips Away again and still waiting for a reply. I text matey and say don't come today as I've lost faith and I want to see what chips away say.

Matey turns up anyway and says let me have a go at polishing it. I say no. He says let me try and then see.

So against my better judgement off he goes. 1.5 hours later he's done. And its still not right. Its much better but as this goes on I'm getting more into looking.

So there's still a slight line at the bottom of the panel where there's a join in the paint. In places the finish is still mottled/pitted along the top of the wing, top of wheel arch and bottom of the panel. A glance and you'd probably not notice but once seen is hard to unsee. Here's a small example

Then I'm looking at the bottom of the A pillar and see this chip out of the paint. Presumably where he re-finished it and whilst polishing its come away. Might be hard to see in pics but given this is a 3rd attempt I'm not happy with it.

Then at the front of the wing is a paint run.

So he's said another rep will contact me. At this point I want to talk to chips away first. I had a small dent (which you can still tell was there but not terrible) now I think I need the wing redoing. Not sure if I'm expecting too much? But wasn't expecting to so obviously tell its been done
That's a god awful job there ! I'd be very very unhappy.

Not that I was aware of but since you asked, I looked it up in the Urban Dictionary.

That needs spraying, no amount of polish is going to get that back, it will just make it worse.

Indeed. And this is after the 3rd go.

I've now had an email from Chips Away so replied with pics and we'll see. At this point I want a re-sprayed front wing.

I'd be taking it to a proper body shop and billing chips away.

Yeah I'm not having them send another mobile guy. Either they sort in one of their repair centres to a proper finish or I go to a proper body shop and they pay.

If the pre-work paint was well-maintained (as the rest of the car) paintwork then, unless they highlighted any flaws before, that's what you have as the baseline for finish.

FWIW, the guy who changed my meters yesterday took pics of the gas fire and hob, before and after, to prove that nothing he had done had caused problems.

Did C&A man do that? Do you have any good, recent, pics of the car?

Is it possible you've had new spectacles recently and your paintwork was always pretty doggy?

It’s more weird than usual here too (I know, still France but when it snows up here we get delays - next day delivery doesn’t exist :( )

I was sent a small parcel over two weeks ago, to arrive 10 days ago - still not here

Other stuff seems to arrive ok. Maybe they’ve lost that one :(
