Picked up my 2025 Honda X-ADV 750, just a quick ride back from the dealers as I have stuff being delivered today, otherwise I would have gone for a proper ride.
Traded in my Yamaha XMax 300 scooter. This thing is totally different, rides like a bike, engine and DCT gearbox so very different from the CVT of my scooter.

So far, so very good.

They are a bit strange looking I guess? Might be the photo though to a degree. They're a bit of a hybrid, bit smaller than an adv motorcycle (BMW GS etc) sort of size, but it is a 750. The wheels are bigger than a normal scooter so very much ride more like a bike than a scooter. Obviously automatic, twist and go, with the different riding modes, and 'paddle' type buttons so you can change gear if needed.
Seating position is more scooter than motorbike, which, with my dodgy knees and hips suits me.

Looks slightly different now as I've just had a my Sportsbike shop delivery of a new givi rack and topbox. As it's a 750, there's a fair bit less space under the seat for storage than my scooter.

All in all though, I really like it, seems a bit like the best of both worlds to me? I know hard core bikers may scoff, but I'd be very happy to go mix it up with them on the road on it.

Edit, for size comparison, the bike parked next to it, is a Honda NT1100 tourer.

When these first came out my reaction was "what's the point of that then?" and I seem to remember a few articles with a similar opinion. Seems Honda know the motorcycle market better than me though (funnily enough) 'cause they've been a hit.

It's the crap shoot of being a designer,an artist,musician,or any creative field. Quite often something which captures the fickle public's imagination and gains popularity,isn't a formula that can be worked out,just random magic. All any designer can do is keep drawing the pictures and punting out ideas,then hope to be lucky.

I find D mode to be awful around town and always used S1. I also found using the +/- shift buttons made the bike so much better. I'd always drop down a gear or two using the switches rather than whack open the throttle for "kick down", then click teh upshift switch when i was done. After a while all this becomes second nature and improves the ride incredibly so. Most people I've met who dislike the DCT, never used it like that and come away with the bad (wrong) opinion.

After a while all this becomes second nature and improves the ride incredibly so. Most people I've met who dislike the DCT, never used it like that and come away with the bad (wrong) opinion.

It did feel quite 'jerky' when moving off with the DCT, I did wonder about using 'rain' mode maybe, then moving it to 'sport'? Some were saying about using more back brake as well? It just wants to tear arse off, whereas intially I wanted a bit more slow control. But I'm sure I'll get used to it, and early days, I haven't really had a chance to mess about with the gearbox settings or the manual side of it either.

I'd be surprised if it couldn't be on your model though as it can be on all Hondas with DCT, so it might be worth a go? As i do a lot of town riding I reset it on mine quite often. As yours is later it might just be really lean at low revs?

I'll have to see if I can figure that one out. I couldn't even connect my phone the other day as I found the instructions so difficult
