My Irish Grannie used to fry eggs in butter - bloody gorgeous !!

I still do, and omelettes n stuff. Well, unless I have bacon to cook and have time to faff, then I dry fry the bacon in a pan and cook the egg in a mix of bacon fat and butter !! :angelic-green: :angelic-green:

Perhaps not insignificant, but definitely has the happy.

Favourite daughter has just moved house and doesn't have an operating washing machine as yet,so we've been receiving bags of laundry to wash. She calls down yesterday and tells me she needs a hand in with bags because they're too heavy. On the back seat of the car,she says,so I open the car door and there's a pile of blankets over the back seat. Suddenly the blankets are pulled away and there is eldest son over from Derbyshire.
I was gobsmacked as my brain was still looking for bags of laundry. I get over myself and give him a hug, then the blanket on the reat seat moves again and middle son appears. From fucking Australia... A proper WTF moment. My poor brian failed to cope.

Anyway,it was probably the best birthday present ever. Except maybe for the cake. 8-)

My dog being a twat, she regularly gets trapped in the ante room betwixt Chez Gremlin and the garage, due the door into the hallway self-closing the wrong way for her to push. So this weekend, when it happened again, I cut a section of blue nylon rope, tied some knots in it and attached it to the door handle. Over the weekend I've almost got her opening that door on her own by pulling the rope and coming through the door before it closes.
