The bike started sounding clunky. On inspection, the small wheel thing had 3 of its teeth worn down a fair bit. Not sure of OEM kit is crap- but it's been super dusty so maybe it's just where I've ridden

Only if your rear mech is

SRAM rear mechs usings 12 and 14T jockey wheels.

But i don't know what rear mech you have.

Also when replacing jockey wheels make sure you get the orientation correct. Upper and lower wheels and correct mark facing away from the bike.

Good job it's back pay month! New crank bolt for the EEwings crank after someone has slightly rounded off the original using the wrong Allen key, new crank preload adjuster as the original is 5 years old and a bit tired. Finally a Maxhit Enduro bearings BB. Not cheap but hopefully more tolerant of my treatment of bearings, also life time warranty if serviced annually which is something even I can do!

I think he rubs sand in them just to make it look like he rides loads!

New helmet.

Crashed a fair few times in my Bluegrass and I much prefer that it feels like a motorbike full face rather than a thinly cushioned mtb helmet.

Plus I see more DH guys now moving to more MX based helmets

So thought I’d try. Got Dyfi in a few weeks time so thought I’d treat myself. It may not work in terms of weight etc, but let’s find out anyway

I am trying to work out what that does.

It's so you can remove your forks and stuff without needing 5 hands. I like it, it's very clever

Simple answer is, they’re more protective and built sturdier with higher impact ratings than mtb.
They’re also more padded inside and comfortable

Not for the bike but some new cleat shields (crank brothers) to go with my new Lake shoes for the road bike ,all my bikes use TIME MTB pedals so I can use any pair of riding shoes I have for any bike. TIME pedal assemblies can dig in and wear out soles but the crank brothers shields do a great job of stopping that.

The issue I had when I wore my MX helmet at BPW is that the peak doesn't go high enough. MTB handlebars are lower the MX bars so your head is lower, gave me neck ache forcing my head back. You could try trimming the peak but have a look at the cost of them first

I like Airohs, on my second after the ambulance ran over the first
