Re: What have you bought for bicycle today?
that's super helpful- thanks mate
The bike started sounding clunky. On inspection, the small wheel thing had 3 of its teeth worn down a fair bit. Not sure of OEM kit is crap- but it's been super dusty so maybe it's just where I've ridden
would something like this work?

Also when replacing jockey wheels make sure you get the orientation correct. Upper and lower wheels and correct mark facing away from the bike.

I bought an A-frame type rack for race meetings
"are you taking the piss, that's ridiculous" was the wifes reply when she saw the size of it... apparently 2m is insane.

Good job it's back pay month! New crank bolt for the EEwings crank after someone has slightly rounded off the original using the wrong Allen key, new crank preload adjuster as the original is 5 years old and a bit tired. Finally a Maxhit Enduro bearings BB. Not cheap but hopefully more tolerant of my treatment of bearings, also life time warranty if serviced annually which is something even I can do!

I still don't understand how you destroy so many bearings, i very very very rarely ever touch bearings on my trailbikes.

The shop say it’s because I ride my bikes rather than letting them gather dust

It's his Merciless piston-like legs and the punishing trails of planet Mongo. Earth bearings just can't take it.

A “stem dock” to make doing headsets, dropping forks a bit less of a faff.

Some new lake wide for MTB shoes and some Troy Lee shorts and a top in the saddle back sale (60% off).

Re: What have you bought for bicycle today?
New helmet.
Crashed a fair few times in my Bluegrass and I much prefer that it feels like a motorbike full face rather than a thinly cushioned mtb helmet.
Plus I see more DH guys now moving to more MX based helmets
So thought I’d try. Got Dyfi in a few weeks time so thought I’d treat myself. It may not work in terms of weight etc, but let’s find out anyway

It looks like it wouldn’t be out of place in The Bulldog in Vaseline Alley !

It's so you can remove your forks and stuff without needing 5 hands. I like it, it's very cleverMr Moofo wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 10:05 pmI am trying to work out what that does.MingtheMerciless wrote: Sat Dec 13, 2025 1:30 pm IMG_5543.jpeg

Re: What have you bought for bicycle today?
Simple answer is, they’re more protective and built sturdier with higher impact ratings than mtb.
They’re also more padded inside and comfortable
Hopefully

Re: What have you bought for bicycle today?
Not for the bike but some new cleat shields (crank brothers) to go with my new Lake shoes for the road bike ,all my bikes use TIME MTB pedals so I can use any pair of riding shoes I have for any bike. TIME pedal assemblies can dig in and wear out soles but the crank brothers shields do a great job of stopping that.

Re: What have you bought for bicycle today?
The issue I had when I wore my MX helmet at BPW is that the peak doesn't go high enough. MTB handlebars are lower the MX bars so your head is lower, gave me neck ache forcing my head back. You could try trimming the peak but have a look at the cost of them firstMr Moofo wrote: Thu Jan 08, 2026 7:16 pmThe will that be any better / different to a MTB full faceweeksy wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 9:27 pm New helmet.
