It's only 100 miles. :D

(But, like the London to Brighton bike ride it's the ride home where you really feel it...Ditchling Beacon stings in both directions. ).

@weeksy

15 years ago on my 40th Birthday, it was epic, got the last train to Winchester and started about 0200!!
Tried again on my 50th but had to abort at Amberley with heat stroke (hottest day of the year and felt cold…..). I was on a sub 11hr pace as well🤬.
This will be a bit more sedate if it happens.

We've not done it in less than 12 and I think 14 was more common. Done it both ways, day and starting at sundown too.

Last time I did same and bailed, went down road to Brighton and got train. Crust finished it solo

It's the 13,000' of climbing that does it.

I'd certainly like to ride some of the big tour stuff, like an Alp here or there... but i don't really see a world in which i will. There's the time/money and there's the fact i hate road bikes lol.

23 miles, 3000ft of climbing and I dodged the cloud burst. Mrs M didn't on the dog walk and is unimpressed to say the least.

The E-Valkyrie beasting me across the Downs today, she had all 3 modes available and I was limited to Eco with the odd burst of trail on the single track.

Started damp but dried out and the trails were still dusty and very loose. Managed to hit 51mph down Longman Hill today.

Yeah, my bikes like a rest! I really enjoy riding my road bike, but I rarely do it because I can't be doing with other traffic. Mostly the traffic is a lot friendlier than I expect though there's always one! Maybe I'll ride it tomorrow...

Totally underestimated the weather, the wind was horrendous and difficult to stand let alone ride in!

I burnt through 3.5bars (out of 5 and the last bar is pretty rubbish) of battery though I was carrying a spare but it was just too dodgy to carry on.

Much E-Bike Cheating, including towing a mate up a short nasty South Downs climb. Storm Amy rolls through this weekend and the end of dry trails for 8 months.

Took the little man to swinley forest today…. What an experience.

So he hates hill…. Hates bumps…… shouted at me because “i dont even have suspension”

In his defence, he is only 4 1/12, i got a cycle bungie cord to tow him up the hills, we got to the top, he stopped and did not tell me, and i kept going and oulled him off. He did not enjoy that, and after refused to be towed, 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

He loved going down though.
