Leaving Riaño we got stuck behind a Guardia Civíl-accompanied convoy of migrating sheep - took an hour and a quarter or so for us to be able to get past, shortened the day a bit.
I got stuck behind a flock sheep at the bottom of the T.O.B earlier, they only moved them into a different field less than a mile up the road,no Guardia Civil, just two farmers on quad bikes & a sheepdog.
15 years back I stayed near Potes with my XT600,some nice easy off road trails around there, probably not good on the MT09 though..
I'll always remember my mate not believing me that the white stuff on top of the mountains was snow,he couldn't get his head around Spanish mountains still having some snow on them in summer
Some nice walks from where you get out of the cable car at Fuente D'e  .

My brother has literally just suggested the Fuente Dé cable car for tomorrow morning! Opens at ten, so we’ll get breakfast in town first for a change, instead of first stop on the road.

Cheers.

Another Sunday morning glide across the lanes of the shires.
More toward Northamptonshire this week to grab a coffee at the Old Ordnance Depot in Weedon Bec.
Some interesting bikes there, an old Moto Guzzi Cafe Racer, few old BMW Rs and an old 1950's Gilera 150 single.

It's interesting how the countryside colours have changed in the past 3-4 weeks, fields are looking more like late Summer gold and yellow (gratuitous excuse for a couple of bike pics).

Last one from this trip, from the cable car at Fuente Dé this morning. The stretch near the top is damn-near vertical!!!

Excuse the 70s look - the windows in the cable car are blue, got rid the best I could on the tablet…

All the cable car accidents over the last few years have put me right off them, I think I'm more of a funicular man now.

Off to the ferry tomorrow.
I did that cable car ride in the early 2000's. It was extra memorable as I think the altitude triggered a massive delayed hangover. There was a group of us, part of which was me and 2 mates. My dad, younger brother, aunt and uncle all went out for the afternoon and me and my mates played darts and drank. There was an early morning ride to that cable car the next day and me and mates had agreed we were going but as the evening went on we kept drinking more and more and as you do when you're young you just keep up with the group. At about 1am and very, very pissed the conversation went like this.
"Lads, we better go, I'm FUBAR and we've got a ride early tomorrow"
"Yeah, we agreed we weren't going earlier, so that's why we are so pissed"
"What? We agreed we WERE going"
"Yeah we did and then we changed our minds hours ago"
"Did we fuck"

Roo to Reg after a think
"Oh yeah, now I think about it when we said we weren't going to go Graham was in the pisser" :angry-cussingblack:

So I rush back to the hotel leaving them at the bar and go to bed. Come next morning Dad says he didn't think I should come as I was well pissed and got in late. I say I'm fine....and promptly walked into the door frame  But as you do in your early 20s I went on the ride anyway, it's was only a Blade I was riding on mountain roads

Anyway I felt absolutely fine on the ride, and fine when I got in the cable car. Within 5 mins of being at the top though I felt bloody awful, sick, headache, dizzy etc.

Fucking idiot.

Think I saw one of these, or maybe the 750 on Saturday in Southwold. Heard what sounded like a 2 stroke triple but only caught a fleeting glimpse.

Had a couple of hours out today around Woodhead / Snake Pass . Stopped at a well know 'fly tipping' site on the way to
Holme moss.

Pals were at work so had solo ride. It's nice to just plod along and need to play safe. Daren't go off piste in case you fall with no phone signal

This is one of my fave high spots. Not a tough climb, but mega fun.

How's your F800 been? What's it like? In my idle searches for a 2nd winter/bike to take the Mrs out on I keep coming across cheap ST versions and the occasional GT and R versions. I've always liked the look of them. I know Taipan had issues with his S but seem to recall he liked the R. On a random look I notice piston slap being mentioned on pre 08 models but not many other issues.

The 800 gt is one of the bikes which does everything well but nothing exceptional .
If your not in a hurry and just want to ride steady and take in the scenery it is just the job.
Engine power is linear and pulls well from idle but does not particularly like high revs , much
better to use the mid range torque . Gearbox is slick , suspension basic but copes ok.
Brakes are surprisingly good , more than enough even two up.
Piston slap was in early bikes , mines a 2013 , and i think they are sorted now with some
very high mileage bikes on the Facebook group.
Mine only has 5k of which i have done about 4k nearly all with a pillion. My partner likes it
and finds it comfy .

Today was noisy exhaust test day. Now, on the drive on tickover it's ok, 3k rpm on the drive it was ok ish., bit noisy but ok. On the open road anything above 4k and it's getting LOUD. Maybe too loud.

It actually made me ride more sensibly because of the noise, changing early and that. Problem is, when I get the thing moving the wind noise blanks out the exhaust noise so I can't hear it. Maybe that's a good thing, but I don't want to attract attention of our law enforces.

For now there staying, I'll go out with a mate so he can have a 7k listen from the rear. It's in the balance. 🤷‍♂️

Found a lovely pub near Tarporley, ' The Shady' canal side and all that, will be taking Lady Dodgy for a meal sometime soon. 👍
