Taking the ABS bulb out for an MOT and getting a pass

You can't do that with the EML anymore, the tester is supposed to check that it illuminates for a second before going out.

On bikes the ABS light doesn't go out until the ECU has a reading from both sensors, which means travelling a short distance, which doesn't happen during a MOT.

When I had my bike CT (MOT) the tester pointed at the abs light and asked if it went out once I got going. I said yes, he took my word for it and I got an undeserved pass!!

On my bus what is basically a Mk6 transit, if a get an ABS light as say a sensor went. If i swap that sensor the light will stay on until i go for a run. Think i read it need to get to 30mph

As a Community First Responder (volunteers who attend 999 calls, usually arriving before an ambulance crew), we sometimes wonder what the 'proper' crews think of us.

So it was nice to see this.

In my experience the 'proper' crews were always appreciative and kind. The first call out I went to was an obviously dead old lady but as I wasn't a doctor I couldn't make that decision and had to perform CPR regardless until the crew arrived. They were bloody lovely, gave me the number of the station in case I needed to talk to someone after the fact etc. Never met an unkind crew

To be fair, I've had some good experiences. Including being asked to do observations and being introduced to families as 'a collegue'.*

'Recognition of death' was a cheery part of the training. Some of it quite 'blunt'.

The only person I've encountered met the criteria, I didn't attempt resuscitation.

There are some situations where we don't make that decision, such as kids and drowning.

* The public, however ... Two recent calls, one where a load of pissed people were more concerned with watching footy on TV than the welfare of the injured person, and the person who complained that an ambulance was blocking the road (in the time we were discussing it they could have detoured around).

I think I was amongst the first wave of First Responders - over 20 years ago; implemented in the city/town I lived in as we had no ambulance station so the wait was a minimum of 15-20 mins !!

Back then we were not allowed to not start resus as it was not our decision - however I did have a colleague who called control and said he wouldn't even consider starting resus, when they argued, he said "this guy has been here for a LONG time - I'm not getting any closer and definitely not doing resus" !!! (He was also a fireman !!)

Pissed people annoyed me with our calls too, especially the parents that had left an asthmatic kid struggling until anything they had in the house wouldn't work but in that time they'd drunk too much to be able to drive Fuckwits !!! Back then I was still doing bar work so in theory had more patience with drunks - but even then my w*nker tolerance was on the wane

2 meat eaters and a veggie.

Steaks for the Carnivores.

And Apple crumble with custard for dessert

And yes I cheated by using a bought lasagne and a bought apple crumble.

But I had everything ready when it should of been ready. I took care of all the table setting etc and I was complimented by all 3 diners

Last night i resolved 2 little rattles/squeaks with the Transit Custom.

1 was caused by the trolley jack i put in under the seat.
2 was caused by the long lever for removing the wheel nuts..

Both were irritating and i was curious for a while lol.

I don't know about happy, but I had to smile, or it would have pissed me off......

I woke up this morning to see that I have a new "match" on a dating site. I check the profile and a suspiciously good looking lady appears. She's also messaged to introduce herself further. I reply to the message, as she's a singer, I ask if she'd just got back from a gig when she matched with me at 3:30 on a Sunday morning. She explained she was a writer and had been up late doing that.
As always I expressed preference to meet for a quick coffee asap as ' you learn more in 5 minutes of coffee than you do in 500 messages'.
She replied that she like to message for ages before meeting.
I countered that due to bad experiences of messaging for ages only to finally meet and be disappointed, sometimes due to ladies using old photos and being deceptive about their weight. That was why I refer to meet asap. I explained that I respected her choices and that, as we differ, we should probably just call a halt to this now and go our separate ways.

She replied...(a wee bit of paraphrasing, but this is the best I can remember)

Sadly I was unable to reply and explain that:-

A she's not nearly as famous as she thinks she is
B She's the one trawling dating sites at gone 3am on Sunday morning
C I told her I respected her choices, but because my choices are different, she responded with unwarranted aggression and profanity.
D She's clearly a narcissist who can't handle rejection so not someone I would ever get involved with anyway.

She's called Abigail, I found her on youtube, her songs have less than 100 listens combined !!
