Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield - who recorded it aged nineteen - was released 52 years ago today - on May the 25th, 1973.
It was the first album released on Richard Branson's newly formed Virgin Records label. It has sold over 15 million copies worldwide, and helped the careers of Key, Oldfield & Branson significantly (although, it has to be said that the contract signed by Oldfield wasn't exactly favourable towards him financially)
