Friday thread, the server disaster week.

Post by weeksy »

Well it's been a week that's for sure.. with this site down for a chunk of it and in a state of insanity for some as well.

Fri. Chilling, spannering bikes, loading van
Sat. Dyfi for me and him, bike testing weekend. I'll be on his Session, which i'm very excited about
Sun. Debating whether we ride and hook up with mates or not.

My Old Man is back in hospital with a dodgy heart and difficulty breathing (needs a new valve and multiple stents but he’s too ill for them to try that at the moment, they’ve only had 14 months to sort that out) so it’s off to Barnstaple to see him this weekend, Airbnb booked last night and meeting my youngest brother down there.

My Daughter and her other half coming over tomorrow, so we've invited a couple of other people over too. Should be a nice get together, but sadly (for us) my son and his other half are sunning themselves in Malta so wont be here. I shall do a brace of chooks on the weber rotisserie.

Sunday, a nice dog walk at the coast somewhere, might even treat the wife to lunch. :P

Hope your old mans okay, Ming.

Weekend?

FFS, I may not survive today with my man-flu.

If I do, I have the pleasure of a 24h blood pressure cuff to wear to investigate my hypertension issues. That'll keep me awake all night, like the cold did last night.

Supposed to be round friend's for dinner tomorrow night but depends how I feel.

Supposed to be seeing Ol' Ma Gremlin on Sunday, but same applies and I don't want to bump her off with my germs.

Today, collect the new to us caravan at 1pm. That means the afternoon will be spent loading it with all the crap that came out of the old one, although she has said she wants things like matching plates, cups crockery etc. neither of us have that at home but the caravan will have.
Then wine on the caravan😀
Saturday, chill until I go home.
Sunday, back at work, planning a trip away in the new van before the BH.
Enjoy, whatever you’re up to and all the best Ming.

Today: School Eucharist. Spent time after the service as a school governor to speak to a parent about their child with the headteacher around the fact they need an ADHD assessment done to help them access the right level of support. It went well.

Out to have a safeguarding meeting to speak with someone whose behaviour has been borderline and in danger of being a threat to the wellbeing of people. Set out the parameters of conduct and basically let them know "we are watching and keeping tabs". They now hold no church office nor have keys. Tough love means others are safe.

I've got another pastoral meeting this afternoon with an elderly lady of 85 who is tough as old boots, an absolute dear and makes a decent cup of tea. She has mobility issues, two false hips, a speech impediment due to a stroke and a loneliness that is met through visits and church life.

Saturday: Hever Castle with the family to visit the Craft Fair. May take the woof as well.

Sunday: Services as usual. My newly Licensed Lay Minister will be preaching at the one church, so that is nice! Then driving my daughter back to the clinic in the afternoon... hate that as she is not doing well there.

The usual boring stuff, plus ça change. Helping a mate sheet his carport, faffing in the shed, tidying the land round the house, listing stuff on Ebay and more besides.

But then, if I didn't like it I'd do something about it

My better half has a hen weekend in Portsmouth (watch out any denizens....), so I'm planning on Beaulieu Autojumble tomorrow ( https://www.beaulieu.co.uk/events/spring-autojumble/ ), and the local classic club's monthly meet on Sunday ( https://www.manhoodclassics.com/meets-shows ) before I have to go rescue her. :D

The hedge trimming can wait another week.... it's not intruding onto the road (yet...)

Work from home today, the hound is being picked up for his weekend away, I swear he goes out more often than me!

Tomorrow, rare event for me, day out with the lads in York. Food, beer, chatting and hopefully sunshine. Depending on volume of beer and time back home, I may head for a cheeky curry.

Sunday, recovery, pick up hound, and usual domesticity

Checked my diary. It looks like this week is a 'home holiday'. ie I'll be sleeping in my own bed but spending the days going to various nice places/events/exhibitions. All carefully curated by my 'life organiser'. :D

I’m in Siena this weekend for the Giro d’Italia so today we rode out and did some lovely roads and sections of the Strade Bianchi, I love Italy and Tuscany has been a delight so far.

Tomorrow more of the same with more dirt roads than paved planned.

Sunday see the finish of the Giro in Siena.

Still wall to wall sunshine here,so hopefully there'll be more bike action than the short run today.

All the best for your pops @MingtheMerciless

Friday. House bothering in France, Tiling and rendering.
Saturday. Collect a parcel from La Poste which should have been delivered on Friday into my sweaty mitts as I was home all day. More HBiF.
Sunday: day off from HBiF and ride the Duke to the open air market in Meze and buy stuff. Stuff will include ultra tasty Olive noires a la Grecque.

WFH today.
Tonight/tomorrow: set up my new phone (got a decent deal on a Pixel 9)
Tomorrow eve: friends over in the evening for food and bonfire

Around that, I'll pick some stuff on the to-do list, and do it. 👍

I got home on Thursday evening after two weeks and about 3600kms   One of the better trips back mostly cos I'd been able to save up for it and actually enjoy myself with family and some friends. (Only ten of the days in the uk but 8 different beds  - then stayed with friends in the Corrèze a couple of nights and a night near the hospital so I could see the surgeon on Thursday morning)

Got confirmation on Thursday morning that I start my new job on Monday :bblonde: :bblonde:

Yesterday I had a really slow start and then went to the valley to get some basics and see a mate I see very rarely (she's up in another resort and really busy, so we only catch up a couple of times a year), came home and had pizza for tea

Today I've mostly sorted out my temporary apartment, made a to do list (mostly admin stuff to do  ), got washing drying and about to go get the rest of the clothes I need to wash from the car!

Sunday - probably more of today - admin, sorting stuff and chilling ready for new job!! The sorting tomorrow will mostly be in the garage as I moved most of my stuff in bags, so I need to do some throwing away of stuff and tidying up of packing!!!

Roll on Monday :obscene-drinkingcheers:

Unusually for me, Sunday morning proceeded as planned. Off to Meze for the Sunday morning market, pick up a kilo of Olives noires A la Grecque, a couple of encornet farcis (stuffed squid) for evening meal and half a kilo of provencal cerises noires.

And manage to get in before closing time at the local supermarche to pick up a still warm baguette. All is right with the world... :)

Thank you. The new company is bigger and so gets the tax break for employing a 'spazz' - and have promised that they will accept any limitations I have due to the spazziness and at the bare minimum will not expect me to drive a manual vehicle :bblonde: :bblonde:
