My younger spawn submitting her doctoral thesis. Happy and very relieved, both of us.

Is it on an interesting topic and....have you read it?

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
GardX! When i bought my car the dealer kept trying to sell me all manner of shite I didnt want, one of which is GardX which is some paintwork and upholstery protector. I assume they have to shift this as with every to and fro of the negotiation it was being thrown in. I got the deal i wanted with it thrown in regardless.
Anyway, we had that sandy rain over here recently and our cars are covered in that sandy residue. I went out and snow foamed my car then jet washed it expecting to repeat the process, but there is nothing on there at all. Dragged my drying towel over it and it's gleaming, no sand, no water marks, nothing other than gleaming paintwork.

Same. aside from wiping a damp rag across the windows and lights it's not been washed in a couple or 3 years.

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
I was at the gym yesterday and got talking to this older guy.
He asked me my name and he said are you related to Bill. (Pretty obvious really as it’s not exactly a common name here)
Well it turns out he used to work with my Dad way back in the 60’s at the local sawmill. We had a bit of a chat about him.
Honestly I found it a bit touching that someone outside the family remembered him. He wasn’t a very social guy and I thought anyone who knew him would be long gone.

Taking my dog Max to the local park whee he instantly makes friends with all the other dogs
Taking my dog Max to the pub where he instantly made friends with all the paetrons and sat quietly when not being fussed over

Also, getting to the edges of my tyres on only my 2nd proper ride on my KTM

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
Not only is the forum up and running again but I also got a refund on the above. WinningTrinity765 wrote: Thu May 08, 2025 8:37 am I think I've been had to the tune of £80.
While in Wales last weekend I stopped at the very picturesque Ty'n y Cornel Hotel, Tal-y-llyn and bought two soft drinks using a contactless payment for £8. I wasn't offered a receipt (not that I'd have taken it) and the card machine was presented to me without showing me the value. Not that I clocked any of that at the time. When I checked my bank yesterday I'd been charged £88. I phoned them yesterday morning, they said that they had found the transaction and would check it out and phone me back. They didn't phone me back so I phoned them at 5pm and was told again that they were looking into it and would phone me back. Still no call back.
What do you recon the chances are of them phoning me back?
Has anyone had a similar experience and what was the outcome?

The Madri knock off they sell in Lidl is brewed in Spain. Unlike Madri which is a UK beer pretending to be Spanish.

That's because it's brewed in Tadcaster.

That's about as Spanish as me.
Designed by Carling and made in Tadcaster and not (and never was) sold in Spain.
Edit: like they all said up there ^^^^.

Do I care if it was made in Madrid? No. Could be made in canvey island for all I care. I just find it one of the more pleasing lagers!

Madri's a decent pint on a hot day. But I do like to think that there might be a similar glass somewhere in Spain with 'The Soul of Moss Side' on itTaipan wrote: Wed May 14, 2025 7:24 pm Do I care if it was made in Madrid? Best beer is Dorada black which is a Canarian beer. And the Heineken often finds its way into my patio bar.
San Miguel goes down well
