E-sims for travel
I am off to Japan in a few weeks so looking at getting e-sims.
Ubigi - who seem to be the recommended carrier, don’t allow texts / phone calls.
As it will work with WiFi calling and WhatsApp it’s not a huge issue - but does anyone have any experience of using e-sims and who would you suggest?

Re: E-sims foe travel
I've used Saily without issue.
But again, it was just for data.
I made the mistake of leaving the voice enabled for roaming on my normal sim, just in case. I received several calls that I didn't answer... However still got charged for them!
This was Morocco.

Big in Japan?
I've got a donkey of a phone, so I just pay for roaming on a daily basis with EE when I'm in forrin lands.

Re: E-sims for travel
I looked into e sims last time we went and it seemed a bit expensive for what it is
We rent one of these( my wife does it through a Japanese website- not this exact one) for about 20 quid for 2 1/2 weeks - the exchange rate was quite helpful
Easy to pick up and drop off but an e sim is easier still

Edit - i just did a bit of googling and Ubigi, Airalo, Holafly, Nomad seemed to be popular

Re: E-sims for travel
My daughter is going to Japan in a month along with China, Taiwan and South Korea. I did some research for her and a data only esim through saily seems to be the way to go.

Re: E-sims for travel
I bought an Airalo eSIM when I went to Japan.
Unfortunately sitting in Haneda airport I couldn’t get it to connect (undoubtedly operator error) so I ended up going to a booth and getting overpriced physical SIM cards.
I wouldn’t take the chance of that again, I’d just get sims sent to the house before I leave.

Re: E-sims for travel
To follow this up, I looked at some plans with my daughter and we went with Maya. It was half the price of the others and they seems to get good reviews.
