There is / was a 2000 R1 in the North East with a R&G upper crash bung bolt fixed to the upper cylinder head mounting hole with chemical metal, it lasted for well over the 10 years I owned the bike.Dixiethedog wrote: Thu Mar 27, 2025 6:40 pmKungFooBob wrote: Thu Mar 27, 2025 5:46 pm Take the bolt out, wrap it with some PTFE tape and refit, jobs a goodun.
Never ever buy a used bike from me.I know all the old tricks which I did when I was young and skint!

The casting originally sheared off when I attempted to use tapered screw extractors to remover the previously fitted crash bung… I bunged them in the bin with the remnants of the previous bung & bolt.

Re: Ugly Hayabusa to less ugly Hayabusa.
Fowlers of Bristol kindly sent me my correct Yamaha part copper gaskets today. I will fit the one needed tomorrow.
If only I had thought perhaps about using PTFE tape with maybe a smear of chemical metal I could have saved myself a pound (plus postage) for a genuine Yamaha part!
