Newbie needs advice

Hi People, brand new to the forum, so please be gentle! I need to downsize my bike due to a back problem. My BMW f900xr te goes back tomorrow, sad face, so I am looking for possibly a 6 or 700cc bike, that I can use for work, fun and European trips.
Not got a fortune to spend, so any advice or potential buys, would be most helpful.. would be amazing if bike had panniers!

Honda NC700/750X.

Bit smaller than the beemer, still quite heavy, but with a very very low centre of gravity so it doesn't feel it.

They're not made any more, but still plenty on the s/h market - a KTM Duke 690. If you want better suspension and brakes go for the 'R' model. Weighs about 160kg, makes a touch over 70bhp and is more fun than you could possibly imagine. No fairing, so much over 80mph means you need to hang on, but you just get your fun at lower speeds.

Honda 500. Several cosmetic versions to choose from.
Super little bike, mine has done 3 Euro trips so far and is off the Romania in July.

Copes with M'ways, and is fun in the twisty bits.

What was about your F900 that makes it no longer viable? Is it the riding position,or weight,or something else?

Street Triple! The older 675s are pretty good. I don't think the 765s are as hardy to be honest but I've got one regardless.

I did 100k miles over two 675s with no issues. Lots of touring.

Triumph Street 400? Triumph Trident 660? Hornet 750?

There's loads of mid range bikes out there now. And a lot of them look absolutely cracking. Unless the new Hornet 1000 takes my fancy, I may well consider a mid range bike again. I loved my 600 hornets, i had three of them.

If I was going for a 500/650, I'd be looking at an enfield Bear 650 cuz I love the hipster douchebag vibe. They look dinky enough IRL so can imagine easy to handle at slow speeds.

I wouldn't go Himalayan 411 for fun/euro trips unless I loved going slow/off road. 450 maybe but apparently hard to get up off sidestand as COG is high ish and sidestand too short.

Not many singles out there I'd want to spend more than a couple of hours on.
