Takes about 7 minutes to walk from my house to the local rugby club. The club hosts weight watchers classes what my direct next door neighbour drives to.

Still possible in this country these days, only usually if you're out in two hours it's in a body bag.Jody wrote: Fri Feb 28, 2025 9:48 am If you are going to Fcck up and injure yourself do it in France. In and out the hopsital in just 2 hours![]()

Or when they need the corridor space and wheel you out the back door and leave you in the car park.
The plural of 'anecdote' is not 'data'.

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
Took my wife into A&E a couple of weeks ago, long story, 24H long. Only one doctor and 253 people in queue.
The interesting part was them checking her blood pressure every couple of hours and when we asked why the nurse said it was to make sure wife was still alive. Last week someone died in his chair while waiting and nobody noticed.
Not criticising the staff but it's getting grim in QMC and the NHS in general.

Doing the washing up Yes really, OK it's not the doing of the washing up. It's knowing that my mum will trudge down the stairs thinking she has to do it and then her seeing that it's all done !

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
This is a mixed one. A new company has set up 2 new fuel stations in town, selling much lower than everyone else. From 15c to 20c cheaper.
A few within half a kilometer have dropped their price a bit to compete, but others have stayed high.
I'm glad that someone has shown that prices are too high generally.
The missus fills the mighty Duster there, but I'm not putting it in the bikes
The price works out at exactly £4 a gallon. Mucho cheapiness

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
Have been planning a bit of a euro trip this summer with my eldest brother for a while and it's just recently been starting to get to the point where it's not abstract - routes and roads are being discussed, plans to meet up with people on the way are coalescing.
Happy.
Happy.

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
Today was operation day, what i am told went well. Sunday i was feeling a bit shit but had to take some furniture over to fife for someone. Monday had the mother of sore throat. So much it hurt to eat and drink. Today was not bad as i was sooking on Strepsils so took the wife into hospital for 07:30. She was not allowed anything of value left with her as a bed was not allocated so i was to go back after the op with clean clothes and her phone with some reading mater. Few hours to kill so i went to work but soon started to feel rough and the sore throat was back. Hands starting to itch then spots started to appear. Hand, foot and Fucking mouth disease.Felix wrote: Thu Feb 27, 2025 12:12 am Wife goes in for spinal surgery after what feels like a five year wait. Grand daughter came down with it last week and that was the first i had ever heard of this. Looks like the wife and step daughter are immune but now i cant go into the hospital i had to phone the step daughter to come with me and she can go in to visit her mum so at least she go what she needed. Wife is also getting out tomorrow what is grand as we were expecting at least three nights. Fingers crossed this is the start of the end of relentless pain.

Will you be culled and burnt in a field?
My nephew had it some years back. He was only small at the time, so just a sniffle. However, I hear that as an adult it's quite unpleasant, which you seem to confirm, so glad you're up there and I'm down here.
