I used to ask them to show me the old ones. One garage changed their diagnosis

Ovlov pads are made of cheese - our 1st one needed new rears at 19000 miles.

Finished off the painting, I started a while ago.
Waited for a cloudy day as out there in sun for a few hours is a no no. And the sun on white hurts yer eyes.

Picked up a new pair of glasses which were ordered 2 weeks ago, when did Vision Express stop doing the one hour service? So that's 300 quid down the drain but seeing as my last Oakley frames lasted 15 odd years I'll get my moneys worth.

Also ordered a new pair of sunnies, Oakley's again, be rude not to with a 50% off voucher.

Failed horribly at finding something interesting for lunch so broke my McDonalds duck and had a 1/4 pounder meal

I was going for a convertible Porsche 997.2, but i'm not sure now. TBH I still love the Rangey, but its hemorrhaging money on its residuals as well as costing a lot to run with the extended warranty, expensive insurance and still attracting the extra c£400 a year luxury car tax. I really do struggle to justify it sitting on the drive when I hardly ever use it...

Before the wife got a new job with a much longer commute, we'd decided that once the SL had gone then a rag top Mustang was going to be next.

But a proper V8, not the gay 2.3 turbo ecoboost.

Then I bought her a 2l diesel X2.

You sold out man! :D I aint getting any younger and I no longer have dependants, so i keep thinking why not and that's becoming my answer to a lot of things. Trouble is, whilst I may be able to buy some wholly unsuitable things, I actually just like sitting outside my campervan with a cup of tea, or a glass of wine in the evening!

The weather has been dense cloud and rain since Friday, not good if you rely on solar for electricity. It's forecast the same for the rest of the week so we've booked into a hotel for a couple of nights, it's better than sitting at home in the dark with a gas heater for warmth.

Got any plans to deal with this sort of situation? Generator? 'Weekend' place at the seaside? Humongous battery bank?
The plural of 'anecdote' is not 'data'.

Currently there's 8 panels on the roof, I think another 8 on the main roof and 4 on the side to take better advantage of the winter sun. Double the battery capacity from 9.6kw/h to 19.2kw/h and it should be good. The current setup is fine most of the year but mid winter and the position of the house, or lots of consecutive days with think cloud like now and it needs help. I can do 3 cloudy days before it falls over which is a rare event, so double everything will give me 6 cloudy days which is what I'm getting at the moment, the first time in 3 years it's happened.

I've thought about a generator but nobody seems to know how to connect it to the inverter.

My Chevy S10 wore out the rear rotors before any of the pads...

Sir wants one of these or similar: (search for Tapo C220 if the link doesn't like the US)
https://www.tapo.com/uk/product/smart-camera/tapo-c220/

£25 ish, and it works over WiFi, with remote access so you can check from your bed, a built in alarm, motion detection alerts to your phone, optional cloud storage, excellent image quality (day and night).

Scared off our would-be shed burglar on Fri night, and we got some lovely images of him that we could share with the police too. 👍

(I should say we use these for our outbuildings, and have a full fat Hikvision set up for the house.)

We have outside cams that cover the house, garage & approaches etc, but there were so many false alerts & other crap that I deleted the app from my phone.

Oddly enough, the house alarm sensors give us false alerts, but these don't. Better algorithms maybe!
