I have no idea why the fuck I wake up at 4am.. I'm retired FFS. Anywho, 3S'd by 6.30. Heading down the hill to the RockStore this morning, followed by a visit to my *local* boozer (70 miles away) on the way home for scran & live music etc.

Went to the dentist for what I thought was going to be an examination. Ended up with getting a crown cut off, some drilling/repair done, temporary crown installed & out the door in under an hour.
New permanent crown in 2-3 weeks,

The first time I went to the states in about 1997 I could fill up the SUV with the loose change in my pocket, rarely came to more than $10.
The last time in 2009 the price of gas had gone up a LOT. I expect it has continued its rise since then.

Started putting my packing list together for the Arizona road trip.. which isn't until April 4th.

It's been weird/tough trying to offer support to someone close who is being told they need an amputation from a bit below the knee, only positive it's the left leg. But, guys don't 'chat' like girls do, and I'm trying so so hard not to be 'in his face' in anyway, but make sure he knows I'm here for him.

Tough living 2 hours apart as with both our work, it's hard to get together for more than a quick lunch. Which we did yesterday, the day after the appointment where he found that out. He didn't actually tell me any of it, but we had lunch with another colleague and he explained to the colleague and I was there. I guess I have a different outlook in a few ways as, having lived in constant pain for a few years then having a different op and being in a lot less pain, I would always choose quality of life - and I know a lot of people with false limbs. I also know that if I break any of the bones around my metal bit, I will probably lose my arm. So, I've thought that through and know it might happen. I don't think J expected this prognosis at all, so he's massively in shock - but 2 hours away and we can't get together I generally know when something is not good in life as he goes very quiet! But at least he replied to my text this afternoon


So today I occupied myself by going to coffee with various friends and then to the flicks with a mate. Who knew that there were four Bridget Jones films???? I've only seen one!! I've now seen the fourth and it made me absolutely howl with laughter and also made me cry. Bloody brilliant film


Now to get through the weekend and then try and get to see J next week

We had a regular visitor at our previous house. It clearly had a home and would disappear for a week at a time, then come back all primped and polished - probably been at cattery while it's people were away. It was long-haired and seemed to think I was a cat combing service.

Now, the neighbour's cat is a different thing altogether. Runs up if we're outside and demands fuss/play but if it gets indoors it just ignores us and explores the place. Gets in all sorts of nooks and crannies - finds a lot of cobwebs so it's a bit like a feline Roomba.
