NCD - well, new to me!!

Post by Noggin »

Only the second most expensive thing I've ever bought :o :o :o Scary, but it's bloody lovely (the photos are not good, didn't stop today to take any in the sunshine, will try harder tomorrow (or Friday! Might be skiing tomorrow!!)

After LOTS of debate (thanx for all the comments, help, advice etc :D :D ) and searching I've bought a 3.5 year old Skoda Kamiq in a weird green blue colour - although, whilst it looks really dull and boring, in sunlight it SPARKLES!!!

It's the 1.5 auto and it has heated seats and a heated steering wheel!!

There's a LOT of options in the computer thingy - this is just one page  The main thing I want to find is how to turn of the lane assist thingy permanently. For now I have to do it each time I get in - usually after it reminds me not to cross a line

Really really bad photo, but the dealer actually found me a Skoda Umbrella to put in the door :D :D

I is a very very happy Noggin - independence again all year round. First car I've owned in over 4 years!!!  Here's hoping it lasts a long time and tows a trailer ok! And whilst I generally go places alone, this will seat four adult passengers as well as me :o So I can be sociable and offer to drive now :D

Now waiting for snow to see how good the virtually new winter tyres are :angelic-green:

Happy new car day.

Lane assist is a mandatory safety feature and thus it's unlikely your can "officially" turn it off permanently via the menu. You could well be able to do it unofficially with some sort of eBay cable etc.

I've got a 5 year warranty, so probably just gonna have to remember to turn it off each time it waggles at me!! (Just annoying cos on the roads around here there is a lot of crossing of centre lines IF nothing is coming!!!)

LOL I reckon it's long enough for my skis to go inside!! But yes, will have a look at roof racks. Although I'm more interested in a tow bar (and a folding bike trailer!!)

Happy NCD

None of our Skoda's (and we have 8) allow us to permanently disable the safety systems, you need to turn them off each time. It's bloody irritating, not sure if yours will have the option, but you can swipe the screen downwards from the top which brings up a shortcut menu, you can turn some of the systems off on that screen. Saves having to find them in the multiple menus.

There’s a button on the steering wheel that lets me turn it off 😇😇😇

But yeah, still annoying to have to do it each time 😟😟

Spent the day 'rushing' around :angelic-green: :angelic-green: In a lovely 'big' car that is actually mine!!

So very lovely to have a car that will accelerate up the mountain road to do an overtake (or two, three . . . :angelic-green: )

I know everyone said the 1 litre would be too feeble. I can't compare but this 1.5 is bloody lovely. I still spin the wheels a bit - accidentally! :angelic-green: :angelic-green:

But it's bloody great :D :D Now to find a towbar (after I've checked with Skoda that I don't have to go through them to keep the warranty valid!!).

@Noggin You may want to double-check that a towbar doesn't count as a " modification" on your car insurance. It's caused a few problems in the UK recently. Companies not paying up after accidents after discovering that towbars had been fitted .

I'll check. He didn't ask me if it had one, but will check before fitting.

Although the insurance says that trailers with a PTAC of 750kg are covered!! So maybe it's ok.

But thank you for suggesting it, will definitely check it :D :D

The problem with this thread is I can't see NCD without reading it as NCB, which conjures up images of men in donkey jackets with orange dayglo shoulders.

Nuclear, Chemical and Biological donkey jackets. Whatever next? :D

(I don't remember seeing orange shoulders on National Coal Board jackets though).

I'm from South Yorkshire, we had more mines than people.

Every third person in the street had one of these on in the early 80's...

The base rate stays the same it's the (travel) expenses that change.

I was trying to work out what coal mining has to do with car insurance discounts, then clicked on the second image above.
