Re: The F350 Thread
Faffed about sorting a minor electrical issue that took far more fucking about than I anticipated.
Issue:
One of the two rear license plate plates was very dim, other was fine. These are single wire & ground directly to the bumper.
Simple fix: sort out the iffy ground on the right (dim) one.
Did I take that path? Did I fuck.
Bought two spiffy new LED lights that are duel wire. Ran the original single wire to the brown wire on the new lights, attached longer wire via bullet connectors to the white (ground) wire. then used a 2:1 bullet connector so I could then run one wire from that to the chassis.
Looking up I could see another ground had been attached to the frame using a self-driller screw into the chassis. Simples, just unscrew that, attach the LED ground to the same spot. Got it unscrewed 1 turn & it cammed out. Fuck. ok, screw it back in... nope, It ain't going that way either. Snip wire, attach new connector.. so now I have two ring connectors...
There's a 6mm hole right next to the self driller, sand paint off to bare metal, drop stainless 1in M6 bolt in the hole, install both ring connectors & a M6 Nyloc.
So I managed to turn a 5 minute job into a 90min faffery experience (including a run to the store for some wire & the clean up of 200+ electrical connectors all over the driveway after I accidentally tripped over the fucking thing while the lid was open)

Re: The F350 Thread
Accomplished a big project on the 'truck this weekend.
I swapped out the duff bulb on the under-hood light for a new one. Altho given the output I wonder why I bothered.

It was right by a 1/2in wide expansion joint in the concrete, so needle nose pliers were required to retrieve more than a few pieces.

Re: The F350 Thread
Got a call from the paint shop yesterday, very reasonable quote to refinish the running boards/body kit. They should be done by the end of the month.

That looks lovely.
Looking from the front with the driver on the right, is the white light on the left in the grill a bit pissed?

I have to mess with all 4 a bit as they only light up the ground about 15ft from the bumper... plus they're about 1candle power.Pirahna wrote: Mon Dec 23, 2024 1:40 pm That looks lovely.

Re: The F350 Thread
I've decided to upgrade the four lights on the brush guard to new Hella 450's, assuming the mounts are the same (they should be)
Was out running errands & dropped by the paint shop. Parts will be ready for pickup & mounting tomorrow afternoon

The top left piece is from a different vehicle (looks to be Chevy):

Re: The F350 Thread
Just need to install the chicken lights & step mats tomorrow...Put the long pieces on at the paint shop as it was a 2 man job, did the other four at home.

Color is a much closer match than it appears in the pics.

Pretty spiffy for a 29yo paint job. It attracts attention everywhere I go, I get people waving & giving thumbs up on the freeways

Barely, it's a smidge short of 22ft long & it's 8ft wide at the rear wheels, maybe a tad wider at the mirrors.

Done & dusted!

Still have to sort the ground on the rear/left chicken light, but everything else works.
