2025 motorbike plans, trips, purchases, trackdays, adventures ?

Post by weeksy »

What you got planned for 25 then ?

Any new purchases? Seeing a nice exhaust ? Or a nice XSR900GP? sorting out an adventure to the seaside, to the continent ? Booking a Donny GP for the day ?

Get the Goldstar to it's first service, to bypass my self imposed bolt on tat ban.

Toying with the idea of riding to the new Hungarian MotoGP round.

Nepal in November with B-i-L from Oz - meeting in Katmandhu for a 7 day tour, then I guess a couple of days either side.
Dunno is a tour in Europe will go ahead again - but I will get a GPS and ride quicker than the risk advese pair I usually go with.
Purchases - Bike GPS or ride phone and quad lock.

You're not planning on riding the Goldstar to that Hungaria are you? It's a bloody long way. I did it in 1999 on my old VFR and I was able to break the journey by stopping at a mate's place in Munich for a couple of days. On a Goldstar it would be a refined form of torture.

I'm planning on making up for the dissapointments of this year...
I'm meeting some of my mates up near Dornoch for 4 days early May,if we get a good weather window I'll be heading up the West of Scotland for a few days on the way up & doing something similar on the way back home,if it's not looking to good I'll just do the 4 days near Dornoch.
I've booked the ferry for the Classic TT at the end of August.
Hoping to do a couple of weeks in France early July.
Finally getting around to getting my ancient XT600 up & running again,it's so long since I last had the bike on the road,(2017) that it'll seem like a new,old bike to me.

Ride the damned things.

JAPton needs a strip down and see if the timing has slipped and figure out where the sparks are hiding, hoping it'll just be a case of strip down and rebuild it. Fingers crossed.

ED80 needs MOT, riding, then (probably) ABS strip out; and then swap all the good stuff from Rock4 to it: front brakes in toto; shocks; bar-backs; etc etc all the little finessing tweaks.

Rock4 currently needs a service but remains as the goto bike for now.

As far as riding goes: I just hope to get out more on both the BM and the JAPton. I just discovered yesterday that my company's bi-annual get together is in Lisbon.... and I'm wondering if I can get away with attempting to ride down and back... :D (the other half won't be impressed.... :D )

Nah, it would be on the other GS :)

Unless I chop it for a K1600.

A lot will depend on whether I get referred for hip replacement next year and if I do when that happens.

Initial plan is to be using the Himalayan as a commuter and starting to get to grips with a few easy green lanes in the Dales in the Spring.

The Triumph should just need an MOT and be good to go for a few B-road cruises when the roads are less filthy.

Once I'm happy that I've got both running reliably then a decision will need to be made as to which one gets ridden down to France if the opportunity presents itself, currently leaning towards the Himalayan so I can go wandering around the forests when I get down there.

Tiger is due a big service in a few weeks. I'm hoping that will be the low point and that things get better from there on in.

Hoping for a full seasons riding weather. Last 2 years have been pony, this year it didn't get decent till June!

Plans wise, similar to last year but more of it. Plan to ride down to the south/south west coast again. Possibly to the northern wastes if I get an invite.

Parts wise in spring I'm intending to visit MCT suspension to get the suspenders upgraded. Also thinking of fitting better front pads. New tyres. Not sure what yet, another set of Road 5 probably.

Supposed to be moving in 2025, so looking forward to reclaiming the garage space that currently has way too much non bike related shit in it at the moment.

Nothing planned, which probably means something big, stupid and expensive will be purchased.

Planning a trip with one of my brothers through Germany, over the Alps and then on into Spain. We've got June or September pencilled in at the moment.

Still considering getting an MT09 come springtime, too.

I think it's time to admit that I have too many motorbikes and for me to sell a couple.

And then probably buy a couple more...

Absolutely definitely racing again this season, with NG, and most likely on the Bandit, albeit that's still TBC
Second round is at Snetterton , which I last rode at in 1988 when it only had about 5 corners, so I would like to get a TD in there in March/April if I can to re-learn it first.

Will also be doing a bit of two-up riding on what has become an annual mini tour for Isabella's birthday in May, my current thinking is Spain this time , which will mean renting a bike out there rather than using the Multi- We'll most likely fly into Madrid and go from there so if anyone has any recommendations or suggestions for some nice routes and other places to visit from there for a few days , I'm all ears

Alongside that, I'll be regularly getting out on the orange bike of course, the Laverda now and again and hopefully one or two others if I can.

No bike purchases currently planned (aside from a different race bike if I decide I won't be on the Bandit this season)

Oh, and I really do need to start making some progress with the Vincent restoration, I've done feck all with it since I put the thread up a month or two back..

Only booking so far is a trip to the Loire valley in June.
But I want to get some miles in, while I still can. My club is likely to run a few tours and I dare say I'll do one or two of them Then there's the navigational scatter rallies. I might also do the Round Britain Rally this year.

I quite fancy a saunter around Ireland.
Not sure I'll be able to convince t'other half to let me abandon him though. Maybe just a short trip over a long weekend...
