My cavity was filled with tiny little polystyrene type balls (oh er) a good few years back. I assume this is quite nice for whatever it is that's in there!
As a kid I had a job in a bakery factory thing. They were getting gnaw marks in the fondant packs in the huge freezers so they called in pest control. The guy said mice were true survivors and will live in insulation in freezers!
