Land of bad... really enjoyed it. Typical ott American commando rescue mission, but great entertainment. Russell Crowes looking older.

There's a new Gladiator film out?
Why don't they advertise these things? You know, a bit of promotion here and there...

Am I the last person to find out about Tubi?
It's a free streaming service, there's some mainstream stuff, but also a fuck ton of B movie bollocks.
I might watch this at some point.

Wicked Little Letters. Strange but very funny in places. Brilliant performances from all the cast. 9/10

We've watched the first two episodes, and enjoyed it immensely. Quite apart from the pukka acting, the costumes and sets really take you back to the 1920s. I love the fact that it starts right on the cusp of the volstead (prohibition) act coming into force.Count Steer wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 7:28 amOverall, it's excellent. As ever, when series go on for a while, one or two seasons are a bit but still watchable. Enjoy your 'Nucky'.
PS Stephen Graham as Al Capone was an unusual, but inspired, bit of casting but Steve Buscemi is colossal.
PPS Anyone looking for a boxed set that may have got under the radar, have a gander at Carnivàle.

Yep! We watched that a little while back. Brilliant, and spoilt only by the fact that they had an Asian actress as a police officer. Producers of period dramas that shoe-horn in a POC just to show how 'inclusive' and right-on they are, need a good slap. Boils my piss.

Watched it last night, kinda brilliant in a very odd way! But yes I thoroughly enjoyed it and proper lol'd at some of Charles quips!DefTrap wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 4:30 pm Film (available on Prime at the moment): Brian & Charles
Sweet film about a man who lives on his own in a remote farm in Wales - he's always inventing things, and one day he builds himself a robot, Charles.
Really interesting dynamic between this odd man and his odder companion. In a way it's very much about oddness, loneliness and Charles is sort a metaphor for a needy child or elderly relative.
I really enjoyed it.
There's a short (that the film was expanded from) on YouTube.

Re: Box Sets, Mini series, films, etc.
Ended up watching Coleen Rooney; The Real Wagatha Story on ITV. Obviously I knew of this but didn't really get what it as all about nor bothered to look until the wife put this on.
Its a 3 part story that could have easily been summarised in one, but I still watched it as it showed how she met Wayne and how their lives changed with his growing success etc and just how much money they have!! The main part showed what nasty piece of work the Vardy woman and her PR team are and just what the desperation for fame and the limelight does to people.

Re: Box Sets, Mini series, films, etc.
Day of the Jackal on Sky, not the old film with Edward Fox but the ne series with Eddie Redmayne and Lashana Lynch. It’s not very good, the new plot is too convoluted compared to the book/film and the “good guy” (Lynch) has killed as many people as the villain. The addition of a wife for the Jackal also ruins it.

LOLZ, it is on ITVX, there's just been an advert for it before the news!
