Put a deposit on a new bike… Indian FTR content!

Post by mboy »

So I’ve finally done it…

Really fancied one for years, but put a deposit on this the other day…

It’s just the base model, ironically I didn’t fancy the more bling versions, and though the top end one has Ohlins it’s a lot more expensive, and I’ll probably upgrade the shock and put a cartridge kit in the forks on this anyway…

£4k off the bike (yes, really!) helped, as did another £1k off an Akrapovic can to go on it… Because of the ludicrous discount on it, if I PCP it it’s like £500 down and £99 a month for 3yrs! 😂 Will probably just buy it, but that’s a crazy deal nonetheless…

Really looking forward to getting out on it in the spring (this one more than likely won’t come out in the rain or the shit I suspect), it’s almost 3yrs since I test rode one purely by chance and it’s still probably the most fun road bike I’ve ridden all told! It just makes you feel like a hero all the time, even at vaguely sensible speeds! Which is probably a good thing…

Always really liked them, it's a bike I could definitely see myself riding. Nice one, hnbd

My local Indian dealer was part of the Completely Motorcycles group though, so no longer there.

Always like the look of them - considered chopping the Diavel in for one. But they are tiny and I am not.
Also I have no idea where there is an Indian dealer within 50 miles of here!
Enjoy

For some reason I fancy one of these, enough to chop the Harley in for? I don't know, I might have to go an have a mooch around the Stourport dealer.

Funnily enough, the other sort of similar bike that is on the bucket list is a Diavel… Prices are still crazy high though! A new 2024 FTR or a 2016 Diavel 1200 for the same price?!?! 🤯

I will have a Diavel one day though… Did look into a test ride on a V4, but prices still bonkers… I “could” afford the finance on one, but no way I’m doing it…

FTR isn’t tiny at all… Well… The fuel tank is! 😂 It’s quite a sizeable bike truth be told… Barely any smaller than the Diavel I would say, although a regular 180 section rear tyre looks tiny compared to the 240 on the Diavel.

Heard from a friend yesterday that Thunderroad has been purchased by someone as a going concern, so should be reopening again soon! 👍🏻

Fingers crossed that’s the case anyway… Always enjoyed popping in there for a work visit, be good to see them carrying on…

Interesting, I wonder if the 'Daves' have bought it back?

I don’t know. I never knew the previous management, but I do know it was a well run and well respected local business prior to Completely buying it…

Also, they had a super busy eBike shop in there too which had all but disappeared last time I was there, which meant it was fantastic work call for me… Hopefully that will come back maybe!

Top work sir! Every time I go to Krazy Horse I spend a while looking at the Indians. The FTR is definitely my fav, but as someone who isn't into cruisers even some of their other models are appealing in a way that Harleys never do to me. KH also have some really nice specials but that base model of yours is really nice. Hope you love it come spring.

And an always busy cafe that CM closed almost as soon as they took over!! Meant that they didn't even get any passing trade, so people only went there if they wanted something specific.

I never understood that kind of attitude. The cafe at the very least will pay for itself and could well turn a tidy profit. CMC in Clay Cross have a nice little cafe that does good business and definitely gets people into the store to browse. I often pop in for egg and chps and a mug of tea and a good look at the stock.

Not yet, but I think there's an XSR900 with my name on it in their showroom...

Nice one moby, seems like a fair few of us like the looks of the FTR, would definitely put one on the list if I ever parted with the Morini...

FWIW I know someone with a Scout and he loves it and hasn't had any issues (and he's not normally a cruiser type).
