Steroid injections.

In 2007 I had a rear blowout at Mallory Park at about 110 and I smashed into the tyre walk.
Was in hospital 2 weeks. 8 operations
In a wheelchair 3 months.
Then leg brace 4 months.
2 further operations on my wrist.

Imagine the pain I felt in first few days?

Well. Over last few weeks I've been through hell all caused by a spiralling trapped nerve in my neck.
Had loads of painkillers and injections but all only temporary

This morning I was crying coz every part of me was screaming.
Barely able to walk. Right hand non-functioning.
Left shoulder screaming. Right ankle tendon screaming.
Worse than day after the crash.

The doc took one look at me and gave me the ultimate steroid injection.

Wow, just wow. I'm almost pain free. She said not to go daft as I might make things worse.

Had the MRI and 2 more scans this week.
Then see expert next week.

Sat here pain free. Normality is amazing.

I'll be OK soon. But some poor fuckers have this forever

I was given morphine after my crash and a small bottle to take home of Oromorph after my biggest operation

You’re lucky mate! They gave me a steroid injection into my arthritic knee and it did sod all! But as you’ve found they’re like a miracle cure for some!

New mattress. Hurrah!

Stayed in a hotel a while ago and slept like a baby. Peeled all the bedding back and found the (pocket sprung) mattress was a Hypnos.

John Lewis have 20% off, so I bought one (used the discount to get a grade up (lambswool topper built in) and it was still cheaper than the one I priced up immediately after the hotel stay).

Paid £25 for them to take the old one away - they pass the good ones on to a charity. Someone is going to be pleased with a looks-like-new king-sized Tempur mattress.

First sleep last night. Really pleased.

(Glad to see the back of the foam thing too. Wife didn't mind it but is happy with the new one, just less ecstatic than I am )

Got involved with my step dad’s finances since he’s become, well, not capable of doing it himself. He has carers 3 times a day which is eye wateringly expensive and draining his pot, so I looked into things. He has a blue badge so I assumed he got disability but it turns out he has never applied for anything or been advised to! So I put in a claim with the DWP as he has COPD and ischemic heart disease etc. Claim was granted and he is now £108 a week better off! Result!

Most ordinary folk are lambs to the slaughter regarding the benefits minefield. This is precisely the area his social worker should be advising on,but half the wee girls in the job I encountered were bloody clueless/didn't care and often uncontactable because there were 'working' from home.
As with all the civil service and largely the NHS,it's a bloated and inefficient money soak. Most of them are strangers to a days work.

Mid August to now. It was quicker than ,most PIP reviews?.and it’s back dated to receipt of application.

As I set out to walk up the piste I noticed that my mate was doing some work outside his cafe. So I stopped off on the way home. Quick chat and we arranged to have coffee when he'd finished the work he was doing. Bloody awesome to sit outside his place, closed, in the last sun and just catch up!! We don't get to chat much in winter cos he's so busy (great for his business!). He's the guy that helped me learn to speak French so I always have time for him, and we did speak a lot of english today as he's out of practice!! LOL

His girlfriend popped by too and we chatted about my passing the Permis D and also meeting a nice man! It's really nice to get together with mates I can just chat with, and these guys are so positive for me and life in general!

Great end to the day - work starts tomorrow!!!
