The 1 ltr 3 cylinder will have to be revved really hard to get it up hills and will feel nippy when sinking your right foot, it will show up for its let down power wise a few weeks of owning it.
If you can afford it, buy the 1.5

That Fabia has 116bhp apparently, which sounds like the same motor as our Up GTI. 1 litre, 3 pots, turbo. No slouch, tho the Fab is a bigger car, obv.

Them small engines with turbos not going to be pish on fuel? I had a VW Fox 1.2 petrol what is the same engine as the one used in some Fabia's. 34/5mpg

Mrs Ds Honda Shitvic is a non turbo 1.4 with 90something BHP. 13s to 60.
Honestly...it doesn't feel as slow or terrible as the numbers would suggest. It's still the case that almost every journey is limited by the traffic or the road, even a car as slow as that is not the weakest link.
TBH the thing I find annoying more than the power is the manual For a daily driver having to constantly stir soup with the gearbox is what makes you really notice the small engine. Oh, plus the fact I still haven't fixed the squeaky clutch pedal
If you're just doing A to B stuff it's fine. The thing which might get tiresome is ragging up hills at 4500rpm, but honestly you'd need a reasonably juicey engine before that isn't the case.

Rest of the time was change up at 2.5k, it was a surprisingly torquey little motor.
The ren-0 replacement is a 1.5 dci, a larger car but nowhere near as spritely.
However it does 65mpg compared to 50

Returning to the Skoda question, have you enquired about insurance yet?
I would imagine the puissance fiscal on a 150hp mowta is going to cause a sharp intake of breath at AXA!
(For those of you who are interested, the french use a fiscal CV system to rate cars, hence the 2CV. The fiesta was a 4CV.
Something like a Porsche/Aston/Ferrari will be 12+)

And, I'm only going to buy an auto - no manuals for me as it's too risky if the arm is suffering!!

I think they'll load it whatever I drive because I ddrive for a living - at least, that was the case in the past! (Along with loading my insurance because I worked in a pub full time - even though, at the time, i was completely teetotal )

Fabia owner here!
I have the 1.2 TSi, that's the smaller version of the 1.5 4-pot, mines is mapped to 140 and has no problems, the Mrs has the 1.5 engine and DSG box in her Scala, it's 150 bhp standard and mapped to 180 and it's proper quick.
She had the 1.0.TSi before that and it was super economical, the architecture of the engine is based on the 4 cylinder. 130 bhp is what the Up GTi makes, it's not going to detonate.
If it's any comfort, I've thrashing the balls out of mine for 100k and it's never needed any mechanicals apart from routine servicing and still averages over 50mpg.
Oh aye, forgot to say, those engines make full torque at under 2000 rpm, they're not gutless.

Mrs Ds 18 year old crap wagon is a NA tiny engine I do still kinda miss my 55bhp 1 litre Nissan Micra from time to time to be fair.

Tyre and brake emissions will be part of Euro 7 AFAIK.
Which means EVs will have to meet emissions regs. . Also very likely to see the return of drum brakes!

As standard, 115 bhp, same as the original Golf GTi, but in a much lighter body. You can probably chip it.
