Roaming costing extra is another one of those Brexit benefits that 52% (of those who bothered to vote) voted for.
Amusingly. my Fronch mobile contract allows me free roaming in the UK. My kids (UK residents with UK mob. contracts) whine like a Manchester tram when they come to visit.
They could use that energy and switch to a provider who doesn't charge roaming, just a thought like.

Then it wouldn't fit into this Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little though would it? ;)
ISTR when it was the other way around (some years back my Fronch provider similarly didn't provide free roaming for my UK trips) that I myself moaned and then immediately forgot about it until the next time, and repeat ....

DVLA Auction website bidding process. Why do they have people bidding net of VAT, buyer’s commission, VAT on buyer’s commission and registration fees and then have loads of warnings about these being added and every bid is final and can’t be cancelled.

Surely it’d be easier to have people bidding in terms of total cost given the assumption that the majority of bidders can’t reclaim VAT or is this a deliberate ploy to have auctions starting at artificially low starting prices and boost up the bid amounts by having both expressed as net figures?

Insurance companies.....again
Renewal comes through from Aviva....up from £163 to £207.
Have a shop around, all around the £160-170 mark.
Always give the current insurance co. a chance to match, so give them a bell, whilst in the menu queue, they state that we cannot offer a better price etc etc.
Today get a message from one of the search engines.... new price.
£160.87.......from aviva :wtf:

I'm with Admiral and this happens most years, but they normally ask me for the quote reference. Then a quick chat with a so called manager and they then match it.

Car insurance? Pah. Mine went up £2 on £400. Meanwhile, the RAC membership/insurance went up 38% (inc £71 arrangement fee). I'll be on the phone telling them where to stick their 'small' increase and 'arrangement' fee this pm.

PS Just bought something from Screwfix, last screen was offers. 50% off AA breakdown policy. That'll do...for a year.

Ebay sellers. I bought some lint free cloths for doing some suspension cleaning duties and they were HORRID !!! Really not nice.

I left neutral feedback and got an email basically saying "don't do that, we sell them cheaply"

My reply was along the lines of "just because it's cheap shouldn't mean it's completely shit"

I'm happy to buy stuff that's not 'premium' in quality if it's a reasonable price... but i don't want to waste my money and get complete crap.

I'm just waiting for the next mail "we'll refund you if you remove the feedback" to which i say NO.

I know they're not proper lint free cloths, but if you've got a Costco card then you can beat these...

They're big and thick and the pack is massive!

https://paragonmicrofibre.com/products/ ... s=e&_v=1.0

I bought a couple of rolls of this.

We already have more microfiber towels than i can count due to our sponsorship from Oxford Products, these were for quite a specific use of applying a specialised fluid on the suspension moving parts without leaving a residue of fibers.

Shingles are bmp right now. Wife has them and frankly she’s slacking and I.m having to do everything! Joking of course, but I feel sorry for her as she is in some discomfort. Anyone had them before? How long do they last?

Never had them myself, but assorted friends and family have. It varies, a lot! From almost a non-event (mild discomfort for a few days) to a serious illness with all sorts of complications and hospital treatment. And extremely painful.

Brest of luck, hope your wife has a mild version!

I had them once when I was about 19. All I can remember is that there were lumps on my leg and they were painful if even a light skirt material was touching them!!!

I don't think it lasted too long, maybe a week? Not sure, sorry. But yes, bloody uncomfortable/painful :( :(

Had them when I was a kid - very painful underarm area. Lasted around two weeks.

Stupid drivers. Fellow in a Range Rover went from the outside line across 4 lanes of traffic to the slip road, barely making it over the hatchings and just missed several cars. If I had a dashcam, that would have gone to Kent's finest.

Tell me about it... Previous bike insurers took the piss so I went with Bennetts. I paid for the renewal then after paying I got rear ended in the car while stationary. Other party admitted fault in writing but hasn't paid yet so Bennetts bunged an extra £200 on top :angry-cussingblack:

Another death, bringing this years tally of friends and family to eight. Bridie, an Irish lady I'd know for many years had big plans for her retirment. Three months after she finished work in 2022 her husband died, then she was diagnosed with dementia. I last saw her in March this year, she was on the same hospital ward as my father who also had a lot of time for her. We chatted for an hour or so before a nurse came to get her, she was 68 years old. Her grave will be close to my parents, I'll put some flowers on it when I'm there in March for the old mans first anniversary.
