Recommend me a rowing machine
Did the sums on hiring a Rowing machine for a few months and its not great so I'm considering buying one.
This one came up on a Black Monday deal. Seems pretty good value to me.
It wil live in the luxury grarage along with the lads punch bags and free weights. Between the three of us I reckon it will get regular use.
What say you?

I got a fairly decent gym quality cross trainer off Gumtree for £90.
Gumtree is always worth a look for stuff like this.

I walk hard every day for 5 or 6 miles and it's enjoyable,I know from previous experience,I lack the commitment to persevere with that kind of repetitive stuff.
Walking is also free,so there's 400 quid extra to spend on bike shit.

£399 on amazon.
I've never used a magnetic resistance rower so can't comment on how good the resistance will be but I think at that price it's probably worth a go.
I should say it might also be worthwhile looking for a used Concept 2 but it'll be twice the price of that one but probably twice as good.

Gym stuff is always cheap second hand as people start with good intentions and then...well, you know the rest.

I bit the bullet and spunked £850 on a second hand, but fully refurbished concept 2. It is a couple of years old but you wouldn’t know it, plus it has an upgrade to the PR5 monitor.

I do plenty of walking, with mutts and on my own. I love it.Skub wrote: Mon Nov 30, 2020 5:27 pm I walk hard every day for 5 or 6 miles and it's enjoyable,I know from previous experience,I lack the commitment to persevere with that kind of repetitive stuff.

My lads, 19 & 20 are dead keen on rowing as well as the weights and bags they already have in there.

Take Sports-Tech delivery times with a huge pinch of salt.
We ordered a treadmill at the beginning of lockdown and after a month after the delayed delivery date and several unanswered emails, used PayPal to get a refund which took a further month (or best part) to arrive.
On receipt of the refund,I casually checked the website bargain section and they had an ex-display of the exact model for £50 or so less than the previous one with delivery in 3-5 days so I took a punt. It turned up with zero comms 4 days later with only a couple of scratches on the frame (hidden once assembled).
Moral of the tale, only buy stuff from them if it is howling in stock (review are show many have had same experience as me).

Looks decent.
Iirc one of those was on my short list before I eventually bought a Concept II about 18 months ago. The Concept was more expensive but was a known quantity to me as I've used them on and off for the last 25 years, and also have some experience with cheaper exercise machines not standing up to my weight/my use (admittedly not rowing machines, to be fair. I'm a bit too heavy for some machines marketed for home use.)

Re: Recommend me a rowing machine
The RSX400 that I linked to isn't available for shipping until January which misses most of my eldest's leave from the Navy I'll look for a 2nd hand Concept 2. looks like decent ones fetch over £700 though.
