I think the S9 and the P20 might be too old, but...
Some of the more modern Samsungs (and maybe other brands) work with USB-C Docks, the type you connect a laptop to to work as a desktop with an external monitor mouse/keyboard. It's on Samsungs FAQ's as a way to recover data on a phone with a broken screen.
