The guy was the official at multiple Liverpool games. I've just had the video sent to me where he's saying

According to the FDA, the packages of both salted and unsalted Kirkland Signature Sweet Cream Butter list cream as an ingredient, but may not contain the "Contains Milk" allergy statement visible on the packaging.

25 years is a loooong time. He's expanded into podcasting (which seems to be going really well in The Rest is Football format, and there are numerous spinoffs) and seems to enjoy talking about football with his mates without having subscribe to the rules of the Beeb and the all the associated flack you get from being a lackey to public funding. IMO it's better for it, they say all the things you wish they'd say on MOTD but can't because they have to be seen to be fair to all teams and not be overly critical of managers and refs and players.

Telly as we know it is dead after all, it'll be gone in my lifetime. Hardly anyone under 35 even watches it.
