Not today but yesterday. Bought the Mrs a new to us car. 21 plate Mazda CX30 with only 15k miles on it. So we are now a 2 Mazda family! Said she could have whatever and it was this or a Toyota CHR. Neither my cup of tea really but the Toyota's are £4k more same age/miles. Think I preferred the Mazda though, lots of toys including a full colour HUD in the windscreen which is nice not having to look at the instruments, shows speed, speed limits and blind spot warnings. Pick it up next week.

Put about 80 miles on the mighty Enfield. Rode up to JandS near Northwich for a cuppa. Big Qs so never bothered. Spoke to a chap who was also enjoying Enfield life, Interceptor 650. Made his day when I told him they're 4699 brand spanker now.
Roads were pretty good except for the potholes, mainly dry though and plenty of bike's out. Bit cold so first wear of the heated gloves and bloody good they were, no hot grips. Thoroughly enjoyed.
No pics.

Rode to work on the le...bright but cold. Got fairly busy ( half term) . And end of life ride came by around 12ish..a guy in a local hospice going for his final ride....about 200 very loud bikes, a 65 t bird and so on.
Managed to trip over the kerb and go flat out onto the pavement...scuffed knee , elbow , and oddly , right little finger. No serious damage, but scared two passers by!

Re: What have you done today thread?
I've just got home and showered after three days at Pembrey circuit competing in what was definitely the most exciting and enjoyable motorcycle races I have ever had- I entered 3 classes on the Bandit, did 8 races over the Sat/Sun plus qualifying, warm-ups etc and the Friday test day,so loads of saddle time, and the camaraderie and craic off-track was top-notch- an absolute roller-coaster of a weekend, and what I would call very much life-affirming.
I'm tired now but really good tired - Report to follow in my Bandit thread sometime later this week

Re: What have you done today thread?
Woke up at 3.50am for no apparent reason. About 10 minutes after laying there I heard a car pull up and stop, a car door close and then the dog softly barking, heralding the arrival of the Prodigal Daughter, who decided to come home for a few days during reading week.
Got up and said hello and did wonder why she'd come at such an odd time. Apparently she wanted to miss the traffic.
Odd that I woke up just prior to her arrival. Coincidence, or my wallet quietly weeping in fear...?

I've just booked my ferry for the Classic TT.
I never made it to the Isle of Man this year, due to some big tropical storm the ferry never sailed & the racing was very limited so it's a big priority to get back there next year

I got to be first car behind a police rolling road block on the Sheffield Parkway this morning, how exciting!
I turned off just before we hit the two mile tailback.

Cleaned the mud off my (fabric) hiking boots, washed + then cleaned 'em with Nikwax cleaning gel, then sprayed with Nikwax waterproofing spray and left them to dry. That's them done until the mud season is finished - back to leather boots until the clocks change again...probably.
I'll stay over on the sandy side of the area for a while, a hippo would have been happy in some of the mud wallows I trogged through this morning.
(It looks like some of the local farmers' idea of land drainage is to direct the water off the fields onto the paths).

Dang! Now you've got me hunting for that LoTR badger thing where the elves/badgers arrive for the battle of Helm's Deep.
Failed so far.
Update: it seems to have been deleted from history. It appeared about 20 years ago. All I can find are posts by people reminiscing about it and links to Wibble or Weebles (something like that) that don't work. Strange, you expect everything to be still out there! Wonder if the Tolkein lot or the film studios got litigious?
