Yes, it's a bit grim, just picking up now. I think Ireland is going to get the worst of the wind.

The Borders wont be having a nice day either.

My parents were supposed to be helping out with the Great South Run today, it's been cancelled 'cause of the weather.

You'd think British people would be used to running in the rain.

I suspect they're actually worried about flying stones and spray on the seafront section, but don't let a valid argument get in the way

Sitting drinking çay in a Kültür Evi in Diyarbakir. It's a lovely day but a bit cooler than Turunç.

Bitlis and Nemrut crater lake tomorrow - the arthritic hip is already complaining. :(

We always gave Diyarbakir a swerve*, even back in the 80s it wasn't exactly a tourist magnet! Last tv footage I saw looked a bit grim too. Is it actually OK?

Oddly we never made it up Mount Nemrut either :( - it was a bit of a logistical issue back then.

*A hefty military presence didn't put us off anywhere else but the stories of others that had ventured there did.

Savouring a mug of tea at home after being away. Next will be unloading the van and putting stuff away.

A bit of a bouncy crossing too.

The trip was supposed to be last April/May time but was postponed to now. It's one day in Diyarbakir, Nemrut crater Lake tomorrow and then 2 days in Van.

The Diyarbakir bit was OK for me - I'm not keen on cities but I did want to see the city walls which date back to the 4th century. They're very impressive and to be fair, the city's not too bad. A lot of head scarves like Konya but definitely more friendly.

We aren't going to Nemrut mountain with the carvings, that will be another trip. This trip is to the crater lake which is north of Bitlis and just West of lake Van. It seems to be called Nemrut crater lake to confuse people. :D

Cheers. I did kind of regret not going to Diyarbakir but hey ho...couldn't go everywhere. :D Did stay in Konya (bought a carpet from a bloke that had previously lived around the corner from us in London!). Despite it being the home of the 'Whirling Dervishes' it didn't seem particularly religious although beer was a bit hard to find. Stayed in Van and visited the lake too, where we were surrounded by small boys who were happy recipients of a handful of office biros. Hadn't heard of Crater Lake.

Happy travels.

It got one. Caused some damage to the roof of our little wooden “beach bungalow” that our family have owned on the n coast of Norn Iron for 70+ years, so I had to do a quick trip there to sort it out. Over Friday, returning today via Dublin airport…. Missed my flight. Ryanair is forbidden from making pre-departure announcements because “they have too many flights from here and it would clog up the tannoy”. My fault,I know, but still…

Looking forward to 24hrs of people watching till tomorrow’s flight - lucky to get a seat( for a fee). Grr.

Usually going frantic making sure bike is OK, and taking lots of tools and bits n bats..

But this time I'm have a bike sent over for me to ride. No stress and no worries :obscene-birdiedoublered:

Feels strange having nothing to do :)

Sitting in a classroom. Last day of actual teaching (well what this course calls teaching!! 🙄)

Tutor seems to be going over paperwork with everyone. It not sure what. She’s already been sodding negative about a dossier I’ve stressed myself sleepless about so whatever she says to me
Will only be that last straw 🙄 - cos I know full well she won’t be positive

35 mins to go and a bloody long lie in tomorrow!

I’m so over this sitting around not being given quite the amount of info we need!! Roll on next week - pass or fail it’ll be a relief!! 🤣🤣🤣

I feel your pain. My son and dil are vegan. May as well eat cardboard boxes for what it's worth. They'll get over it in the end. :angry-cussingblack:
