CB1000 Hornet

Post by KungFooBob »

I'm sure there was already a thread, but I can't find it.

Honda are knocking them out pretty cheap at a quid under 9k for the council spec one.

Looks a bit Ducati Streetfigher in red.

Loos pretty generic. I'd walk past that thinking it was a MT or fazer or suchlike. I know they have to have them that big but the size of that can spoils the looks of most modern bikes. I'm sure its a great bike but i find it hard to get excited about.

It's £5k less than the MT10's RRP.

They've councilfied / discontinued the CB1000R in favour of this I think?

Much prefer the CB1000R :D

Sub £10k for a 150 bhp 1000cc IL4 with Ohlins and Brembo is dirt cheap these days. The looks are bland and that silencer is awful, but you can't deny the value on either of the models.

Pricing just under £9k for the council spec seems pretty competitive. I’m curious to see how it performs on the road.

Those front angle views look alright, but it's proper cheap looking from the side. Having said that as a Sunday toy, which most will be, I agree with Mango that's an awful lot of bike for not much more than a happy shopper middle weight twin.

As they say, you don't have to look at it when riding it.

Especially here in MK where there are few shop fronts.

Having a proper look at home, WTF is going on this the instruments.

It's like a giant early 00's TomTom.

Could they not make it a bit slimmer, or mount it so it looks less like a brick?

It's definitely a rip of Skub's Zed. And not even a well concealed one. Just not as well executed.

I think it's time for the new idea's committee to get involved, it looks just like all the others. No doubt a very capable bike but if you're after something a bit different.. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yep, it's a lovely bike to own, the finish is superb. The Hornet has the same engine, so it should be a really good bike as the engine is pretty amazing, but if I was buying an ugly 4 cylinder 1000cc bike I'd buy the Suzuki as the engine is just as good and it has a nicer gear shift, the Honda can be a bit clunky changing gear.

And that's where Honda have gone wrong with Hornet, trying to directly compete with the GSXS1000

It's a lot cheaper than a GSX1000S.
