Passed Theory in 1 attempt

Passed Mod 1 - on 2nd attempt

Passed Mod 2 - on 3rd attempt

I'm so bad with being watched.. but - I did it!!

So chuffed! I went out for my first 'solo on a big bike' ride today.. whoop

I have not been on a bike for about five years. Bought one a couple of weeks ago and yet to get a chance to go out on the bloody thing. Promised myself tomorrow but on bike riding you are doing better than me Welcome back

I'd wondered how you were getting on, so great to hear an update.

I bought a Suzuki gladius - to do my tests - and that is what I'm sticking with for now.

Although I have got my eye out for other bikes.

Great choice for a first bike, you'll be absolutely fine on that for a while, just build experience riding it!

I've been told (by a friend in the know) that the bike needs new tyres and they will need scrubbing in. Not that I know really what that means - I'm guessing 'take corners slow'...

Yeah, just ride gently, no sudden manoeuvres, no hard braking, for 50-100 miles or so, then ramp up again to normal riding over the next 50 or so.

Whatever you do, don't give it a handful as you leave the tyre place...... ahem.

The tyre manufacture coat the inside of the tyre mould with release agent, this stops the tyre sticking to the mould.

Your brand new tyre will have some of this mould release agent on it.

It's 'slippy'.

It wears off quite quickly, but if you give it a hand full on brand new tyres you're more than likely to go arse over tit.

Think about going faster around the same corner, you'll need to learn further as speed increases.

Do that increase in speed gradually, otherwise you'll be leaning on 'new' tyre rather than scrubbed.

So, basically, go for an hour or two ride, find some nice roads, enjoy. And enjoy more towards the end of the hour or two
