It's a relatively new one in the Fernagh estate in Newtownabbey,as Mr.LB linked to. There's a vent under the wren's arse which pumps out steam when the chippy is in full flow. I have to think it was intentional.

Up and out for an early start this morning - it was 6 degrees when I set off. Pleased that my current favourite jacket combo (Knox armoured shirt) with a wind/waterproof shell worked well in the lower temperatures. Wish I could say the same about the vented gloves that I grabbed, mistaking them for winter numbers...

Hundred miles over to my brother's works open day and a bit more than that on the way back - A roads in the morning, motorway home. Enjoyed the ride there, not so much the return leg.

Nice day out and saw lots of interesting stuff. Didn't take a single photo.

You might have mentioned why your bro's works are worth having an open day. Can't be many places that are worth the trip. Bakery? missile factory? (probably don't have an open day), aerospace, brewery, linoleum factory, Pilkingtons????

Funnily enough we used to live not far from a Pilkingtons R&D place. He works for Royal Enfield.

I wanted to work for Pilky's R&D when I was a young whippersnapper scientist. (But so did lots of other yws's...it was quite competitive as it was pretty cutting edge in the glass business and paid well).

My brother apparently isn't so much of a slacker it seems (I've always known this tbh....). Here's one he took of my favourite bike there. I've obscured my face mainly because I'd not looked in a mirror since getting there and had horrendous helmet-head:

Total brief derail

Wonderful headline, many years ago, in the Basingstoke Gazette. It explained that a certain Mr Pilkington found broken glass in a restaurant meal.

Well, made me smile :)

Rode the A3102, affectionately known as the "Spanish Stelvio" from Velefique to Tijola, 43kms of superb tarmac.

(Note this is not my photo, as I didn't want to stop to take one)

Fantastic road, and the 452 Himalayan was a really good bike to do it on.

Even though rises up to 1,820m above sea level, temperature didn't drop below 25°c, and not a cloud in the sky.

Dropped in the the Almeria circuit on the way back as Focused Events are having a track day there, but they were still unloading the trucks, so nothing to see there.
