Actually the service wasn't as bad as I thought as it came in at £840. The quote of £23-24k was for an outright trade buy. I'd retail it for £8-10k more than that if I was going to sell it, but yes, still a big hit on purchase price. I was in the motor trade long enough to know that was coming though. If you pay top price for a low mileage car with FMDSH from a main dealer, you're always going to struggle to get anything decent back when you sell it as a private individual, but i'm also wise enough to know you don't ever want to own a cheap Range Rover...

Ridiculous... I'm insuring a cooking 600 with a value of under £2k, 3rd party only, and it's costing almost exactly the same amount.

I cant work it out either. Supercar performance with high rebuild costs, yet such a low premium. Mind you my mileage is capped at 3k per year, and only social domestic use with no commuting, so i guess that is a factor?

More miles obviously mean more chance to crash.

Not having commuting means you probably don't drive during rush hour when there are lots of other vehicles about, all in....err....a rush.

I was once asked about mileage as they had a limit.
I said that I did about 3,000 a year on road and same on track. So if they ask for clock mileages it will prove nothing.

What happens if the insurer's put the onus on you to prove that the excessive KM's were NOT done on a public highway?
IMHO they're a bunch of bandits & would try to wriggle out of a claim.
I shopped around earlier with my car insurance,it runs out in 3 weeks,the renewal went up £5 to £250,I shopped around & got insured for £175 with protected no clains.I can't remember when I last managed to get a reduction despite having full no claims & shopping around every year.I hope I can get a similar result when the bike insurance is due
