Friday thread the last BH weekend

Post by weeksy »

So it's BH weekend.... What you got going on..

In truth after the last few weeks here we got nothing, there's likely to be some cycling, likely to be a beer... but that's the depth of it for now.

I'd completely forgotten it's a BH weekend! Had a busy one this week so got some stuff to catch up on but some of that is weather dependent...and we're in the middle of a hurricane/typhoon/tropical storm whatever. :(

Off with the missus for her (routine) scan this am. There will be coffee and pain au raisin after....unless the coffee place is boarded up against the hurricane.

I'm on leave until early September so BH weekend doesn't mean much to me! :D Anyway, more hospital visits to step dad this morning. Then f-i-l round this afternoon for bbq sardines and a few cold ones.
Not sure about saturday.
Sunday off to my Sisters in leigh-on-sea for a pub crawl with the dogs in tow. Debating whether to drive and drink 0% beers, or take the train and get pissed along with everyone else. Decisions, decisions...
Monday pack up the campervan and go and enjoy the forthcoming heatwave somewhere!

Friday, day off, MTB with hounds then drinkies in Brighton with an old work mate.
Saturday, dog walk and housework, then 12Hr night shift
Sunday, sleep and then dog walk/MTB
Monday, slacking off. raging on social media regarding my broken ebike and the EU importers lack of action.

The in-laws are here (father & aunt), so mostly entertaining them. This may involve gardening and bonfires 🔥

I also need to change the carburettor gaskets on the log splitter, which decided to start pissing fuel out a couple of days ago.

If that's successful, probably log splitting too.

Currently sat in a tent on Romney Marsh during a 30knot breeze :D. Fortunately we've got a really good lee from an earth/hedge bank, but our neighbours tent is sporting a new door at the moment.

Breaking camp tomorrow morning might be interesting!

Nothing unmundane. The high point is a policeperson coming to look at my gun cabinet.

Setting them on fire seems a little drastic ?

Apart from a bit of pedalling, I'll be reading the manual to the car I've just bought to see what all the buttons do. Why is new/newer stuff so complicated?

Work, lates from Saturday to Monday, which shall be spent dealing with a variety of numpties who are guaranteed to do stupid things.
Oh, and arguing with Tesla about when they will collect the car with a tailgate that won’t shut properly due to chocolate hinges!! It’s not mine, its theirs wot they have given us to test, and we broke it!!
Have fun whatever you’re up to,

Today: work, probably bung a frozen pizza n in the oven and sink a couple of beers in front of the TV

Tomorrow: daughter two is visiting as her car needs a full suite of discs and pads. The last time I did this job for her, she traded the car in a couple of weeks later, I’ve been assured this won’t be happening again… Depending on her eta and how much of a job the brakes appear to be, I will be prepping a bedroom for decorating and hopefully getting started.

Sunday: take the dog go out for run to knacker him out so I can get on with the decorating which I’m hoping doesn’t involve plastering any walls, most walls in the house are good and sound, others leave a lot to be desired…

Monday, hopefully get the bedroom back to normality once decorating is complete, assuming I don’t need to plaster any walls.

Nothing planned.
Was thinking about getting out for a ride with the wife but she's got a stinking cold, might pop out on my tod.
Parts have arrived so I need to do the annual service on the car.
If I remember / have time / can be arsed I'll see if I can find a butcher with some decent meat to go on the smoker.
Maybe give the rotisserie for the BBQ a go.

This weekend I'm sponsoring one of my best pals. He's racing at Cadwell in BSB support class. We started together in 1982 along Andy Simmons. He lost his life a few years ago so doing it in his honour.

Me in lead, Andy 2nd. Dave 4th.

I should be in the Isle of Man,but the Steam Packet have had a bad week culminating with my Ferry getting cancelled last night.
Looks like I'll be having a easy weekend & watching Cadwell BSB on the box.
I've rebooked my Ferry ticket & I'll have a long weekend in the Isle of Man in a couple of weeks, storms permitting...
