Current Affairs closed until further notice.
So here we are, we've had discussions, debates and some toys thrown.
We then have me having to clean up threads and waste my time and effort.
The main protagonists wind their neck in for a day or two and it goes nuts again.
Now, I have plenty of thoughts on this and how it should be dealt with, but I was mistaken in the fact I thought "they're grown adults they'll sort it out" but it seems you won't.
So let's start with what you can't discuss currently and you all decide if you want to be part of the forum
1. Politics, elections, PMs, Presidents, US, UK, etc
2. The current riots and UK issues
3. Anything homophobic, transgender, etc
4. Anything 'news' related.
Simple enough?
People breaking the rules will be given 1 warning then a 48 hour ban.
After that you get a 2nd warning then 7 day ban.
You can guess the rest from there but it keeps extending.
Now I do want to say, I like and respect you guys massively, we've all been friends on forums for 20+ years, but I'll be honest, right now, right here, I really do t like some of you. You're actively destroying what I've built here and I'm still trying to build here. It's deeply saddening
The first question is likely to be "will it ever open again?"
Answer, maybe, probably. However it won't be until I'm back from holiday on the 20th if it is.
You're more than welcome to ask questions, raise discussion etc upon my decision and action in this thread. Feel free to be honest, but the decision stands whether you raise points or not. I've got an incredibly stressful time ahead this week for my holiday, I'm not letting this get in the way.
That's it, I'm done.

As a non-current affairs participant, I won't mourn it's loss, so am not really qualified to comment.
Worth saying however, thank you for providing us a playground, and enjoy your holiday

We need more than two numbers to be able to correctly identify the next number in the series.

My wife would have a fit if I cheated on her with an Eccles cake.

Re: Current Affairs closed until further notice.
It's part of the forum I seldom read nor feel compelled to contribute,so it won't impact me much. It's a pity those who do use it can't behave, but there's probably no real fix for that.
Under the new legislation,I do hope we won't be unduly punished for casting aspersions on KFB's sexual orientation due to his frequent aspousal of the colour pink?
That would make me sad.

Nuke the entire section from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Re: Current Affairs closed until further notice.
Why. If it has no interest to you why go in for a look? You can ignore it more ways than one. I dont post much in it myself but still read others views as well as the debates. Ban the fuckers over stepping the line rather than spoiling it all for others. I have no interest in cycling so dont wander in that section. Its easy as fuck to ignore it.mangocrazy wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 10:56 pm Nuke the section section from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Re: Current Affairs closed until further notice.
That it has to be shut down for the reasons it has is, frankly, a fucking disgrace. Grown adults, who should know better, arguing toss over slightly less than fuck all and lowering themselves to insults.
FFS.
FFS.

Re: Current Affairs closed until further notice.
More free speech restrictions, just what the world needs. Don't go into that section of you don't want to read it. Seems ridiculous to shut it down. Knee jerk "it's my forum, I don't like it" type actions are only going to drive more members away, I thought there was a discussion the other day as to how to attract more. Hey ho.
