To be honest if there's a load of right wing toads in the politics forum setting out their nonsense as if it was fact then I'd almost certainly have a pop. What I find odd is that so many either (a) are such big Jessies about it (b) get offended on others behalf.
I wonder why I bother

I tend to engage with posts from the last day or so max, so if it's popular and interesting maybe I'm in there, if it's not I won't. I'm almost never going to engage in racing or cycling threads so I have no idea what goes on in there and I don't really care.

In all the time you have been having a pop at people you disagree with, has it ever achieved anything, or moved the debate along a bit?

So don't. One way or another you'll spend your time sorting out battles. It'll either be arsey wankers like me wanting a laugh or pedants claiming the forum rules are impinging their free speech. There might be a bit of debating along the way to keep chillitt happy.

Plenty of forums get by without politics.

You did ask for opinions by the way.

I did yes. I didn't ask for you to call people right wing toads. What a bloody stupid thing to do and get the section closed again instantly.

Well done

Moth and I take the opportunity to post politely without fitting either of those two descriptions, and you get it locked again.

But achieved, skilfully, by someone not even posting in that section.

Yeah I don't get it. I've not even posted in that section, I was just pointing out how I thought it would pan out.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong but I don't see DefTrap as taking the piss out of you.
I'd go as far as to say he's one of the posters I look out for, good natured and slightly subversive.

Which kind of reminds me, did Dodgy come over from TRC? He was always good at bursting bubbles with hard facts.

You don't think calling people right wing toads and saying if he disagreed then he'd have a pop at them, in a thread trying to discuss why we should reopen the politics section as taking the piss out of me? I can't see it as anything else to be honest.

Either way, I've deleted the politics section, simple as that, it's gone.

The forum is a bike related place for like minded people to talk, bond and have a community. It's how I saw it at the start.

The politics section didn't once show me anything good, no one said "yeah that's a good and fair point, I'll change my mind"

It was full of

You're stupid
No, you are
No, you are
You listen to him, so you are
No, you disagree with him, so you are

Etc etc.

It's gone, it's not returning.

I'm disappointed in that. I'm more disappointed in the people who spoiled things and I'm even a bit disappointed in myself

We may lose some posters, but I'll get more people staying because there's no bickering than I'll lose through removing the section.

Meh. Delete it if you want, I even suggested you probably should.

And I've not insulted anyone directly and by name, so you're wrong to get the hump over it.

There was a huge problem with the politics section.....what a surprise ?

I saw it a while ago, knew it was somewhere i would never post just going on all the bollocks on other forums and social media and people losing their shit over their personal opinions that they thought everyone else should agree with and then insult when they didnt

I only stumbled across this thread as i had a scan round the forum as the telly was crap and the missus was on night shift

If its causing you grief Weeksy, bin it off and let them go argue elsewhere

Only jam tarts and custard pies allowed.
